I cannot say enough great things about this place. It’s a must! The rooms are comfortable & cozy. I haven’t stayed in the castle yet, that’ll be next! Love love love this place. I’ll recommend it to everyone. And right by the beach too.
My wife and I have stayed at the Cottage and Castle once before and have both times been extremely satisfied with the friendliness and helpfulness of Christina (the host)
Whatever questions we have had to ask, we get immediate assistance!
Our room was incredibly clean and organized, the beds were comfortable and the style was very intricate.
Absolutely no problems and no negative feedback to give!
Thank you for the wonderful stay!
We will soon be coming back!
Loved the character of this place and the host was friendly and very accommodating with my early departure. The bed was very comfortable and the AC was a relief! I will absolutely stay here again. The garden was gorgeous and added ambiance to the stay.
Christina and Miss Bigs Bunny are great hosts....very historic comfy cottage home. Clean and convenient to all things Chemainus. We would definitely stay here again.
Lovely spot, very comfortable and Christina, the host, was very accommodating and gave lots of information about local events and facilities.
Even better if there had been a bit more choice of food items for breakfast.
The property is so charming with a lovely sitting room and a garden area. Christina made delicious gluten free banana bread for breakfast!

I can see the vision and the property itself is super cute with nice gardens and decor. The toiletries are of high quality and very nice but the basics could do with improvements.
We had the garden room for 4 nights. We checked in late and were sent very clear instructions which was appreciated.
Once in the room there was no overhead light but there was a light switch so we fumbled around in the dark looking for it. There were two bedside lamps but only one worked. The bathroom is a good size, the shower is good but a tad small and the bathroom vent is good but very loud. The bed was too soft offering no support. There were no curtains blocking out light or blinds on the main window meaning that if someone was in the garden by the pond they could see in. Seems like a pretty essential thing. We draped the blanket to block some light. The pond outside though cute had water pumped around all day and night so you could hear what seemed like a water fountain. It would be better if it was on a timer so it turned off at night as we found it disruptive to our sleep.
I read many reviews that complain about the breakfast, it is continental which seems very common but it is an awkward experience. There is a limited amount of food which rarely seems to be replenished the following day and the breakfast attendant doesn’t engage much. A friendly hello or what you up to today would have made it a much less awkward experience. It’s a really nice town and fine for a quick stop perhaps.
It is a true Gem!
Christina, our host was very welcoming.
The room is charming. The house as well as the garden
is unique and well maintained.
I would return any time and recommend it to friends and family
Wonderful stay. Clean, cozy & comfy bed. A Lovely jem steps from the water for watching the sun set & an easy short walk to restaurants & town. Miss Bugs Bunny was a sweetie🐶
Check in was quick. The grounds are nicely landscaped. The room was spacious. Sitting out on the front porch with a morning coffee was relaxing. The bed linens were soft, but the mattress needs to be replaced. It dipped into the middle and we placed pillows between us to keep comfortable.
I recently stayed at the cottage and castle and had a wonderful experience. The location was convenient, and the room was comfortable. The host (Christina) was friendly and made us feel very welcome. Breakfast was delicious. Overall, it was a great stay, and I would definitely recommend it.

The home was lovely, the on site manager was very nice.
The reason for 2 stars, was due to a hard bed and last min discovery of a Wi Fi router right behind the bed, right by our heads.
It was covered up by the closed curtain, so for 3 days we couldn't see it and didn't know it was their, till we were packing up and i pull the curtain back and their it was, inchs from my brain the whole time i slept for 3 nights, 😳.
Its even in the instructions to never put these thing near a body, my head it still throbbing. Im not impressed.
Quaint but Very clean. Very helpful hosts.
Air con worked well.
Our two bedded room, would have benefited with curtain or blinds for side window and also a coffee machine. Otherwise perfect.
you could ignore the breakfast as it looks like nothing served. not even the hot water for tea or coffee. no milk, egg, no bacon, no yogurt, only croissant and banana. the prices are over asked.
The place itself is very nice.
But.. The owners have a large dog (pitbull? hound?) who has healthy protective instincts. The problem is that when guests enter the property (using door-lock code provided by the owners) and the owner is not in the living room area the dog acts on these protective instincts by greeting the guests growling and snarling. I was lucky it didn't go beyond that as I managed to quickly retreat outside.
The owner was very apologetic, but...
