A busy modern pub with separate restaurant and a small hotel. Room well appointed and clean, we had a waterfront room with large patio. Breakfast a little disappointing, very small buffet with limited options but a reasonable cooked breakfast menu.

Great service

Great stay. Food is always amazing and the breakfast a service is outstanding. The only things that i would recommend is just a little Renovation to the standard rooms would make it five star all rounds.

Great place to stay

Really nice pub and hotel. Good was excellent!! We stayed on the weekend so it was about loud (not their fault) but customers were very loud and shouting outside. Would definitely stay again when in the area!

Recommended

Nicely situated pub / hotel for the nearby historic dockyard and Rochester town (and Fort Amhurst) Easy check in. Nice room with waterside view (standard room) Comfy bed and compact bathroom with lots of toiletries. Bar and restaurant both excellent with a good range of local beers and food. Nice covered area on the quay for boat and people watching and lots of outside seating for when the weather is more clement. Great value for money if you're in the Chatham area. £10 trip into town on the Uber or an hour walk (not the prettiest!)

Lovely stay if visiting dockyard

Nice cosy room and big bath. Nice to have bar and restaurant on site. Walking distance to shopping and the historic dockyard. Friendly staff. Free parking. Nicer to be overlooking the marina than the dockyard where other hotel is situated.

Excellent hotel

Nice hotel, quiet, nice area for an evening walk after a busy day at work. My second time here, all of the staff are nice, rooms decent size, comfy beds.

We had a good overnight stay and meal in restaurant. Only issue was lack of plug sockets by the mirror to dry hair, and lighting could have been a bit brighter

nice property and staff in a lovely area. very good breakfast options included in the price. did not eat here other than that as there is almost nothing gluten free on the menu except for steak ?????. walkable to Chatham naval yard museum which is excellent, and very close to shopping centre which we were not very impressed with - a bit run down. would stay here again if in the area

Lovely break

Quirky sea themed room was spacious and comfortable room with view of the marina. Minimal noise from the bar/restaurant downstairs. Meal was lovely with excellent breakfast options (included). Staff were wonderful at all times. It made for a very special trip

Very happy with everything except the noise of a fan during the night, which kept me awake until I bought some ear plugs. The staff were welcoming, friendly and very proud of their hotel.The food was very good. It’s a well located-next to the marina, very busy pub as well as a hotel.

Lovely stay when attending a nearby wedding. The only negative was that the bathroom had a strong drain smell.

Love the historical nature of the building and the sympathetic restoration. The rooms are well equipped and there are washing resources provided (shower gel/shampoo/conditioner/moisturiser), but I question the sustainability of this as most hotels have moved to larger dispensers to reduce the plastic waste. The staff were excellent throughout my stay, and the restaurant provided high quality meals whenever I dined with them.

Excellent Ship & Trades

Loved the Ship & Trades. The breakfast was probably the best hotel breakfast I have ever had & recommend the Fish & Chips as well. It was while eating in the evening I heard of the death of the Queen. So quite a strange time but also means I will never forget our visit. If we come back to Chatham & we would certainly stay here again.

Disappointed

Bit disappointed after excellent reviews. Maybe Saturday night is not good. Given room next to staff area and could hear noises in our room during the night. Shower was scalding hot so perhaps a warning needed. Waited 45 minutes in restaurant for our food in the evening. Staff seemed pre-occupied and surprised to see us at breakfast. Food good and excellent service from two young people serving at breakfast.
