Breakfast and the room were great! The bed was comfortable, and Breakfast had plenty of options. Coffee and tea were available. The pool was dirty and needed to be cleaned, but that was the only issue. My husband went to buy something from the little store here and had good service.

My stay at the Residence Inn by Marriott Lake Norman was extremely disappointing. The first issue was the cleanliness of our room. A boot was left under the bed from a previous guest, which immediately made me question how well the room had been cleaned. The biggest concern was the pool area. One of my kids stepped on tiny metal bristles that were scattered in the pool. When I reported this to the staff, the manager, was defensive instead of showing concern or even taking a closer look at the hazard. He even accused me of being aggressive when I was simply being direct about my child's safety. The front desk associate was also rude. As a bilingual Latino, I naturally speak both English and Spanish. I mentioned the boot in Spanish, and she assumed I was talking about them because I spoke in Spanish. She actually interrupted me to let me know she understood Spanish. I was shocked and I found that disrespectful and unprofessional. Between the poor cleanliness, the safety hazard, and the dismissive attitude from the manager and the front desk staff, this was not the level of service I expected. I usually stay at Hilton properties, and after this experience, I will not come back to the Marriott brand.
