Our room smelled like straight up funk. The walls had stains on them. There was a hole in the bathroom door. Stains on the sheets. Multiple hairs in the bathroom and I am bald… wack ass spider coming down from a hole in the ceiling. Dead bold did NOT lock. Had to barricade the door with all furniture in the room. Front desk people were kind. Would recommend if you are musty!

The property is kept up nicely. I thought our room was going to have a microwave and refrigerator. The ac was nice and cold. The bed and bathroom were clean, but the floors were very dirty, turning our socks black. We liked the location. I would say that, for the price, it could’ve been a little better. We would rather spend $25 a night more for a different hotel that offered more amenities.

We stayed at the Red Roof Inn PLUS+ in Mount Pleasant, SC from July 9–12, 2026. While the staff were friendly and doing their best, it was clear the hotel was very short-staffed. Our check-in was at 4:00 p.m., but our room wasn’t ready when we arrived. We had to wait about an hour before we could get into our room. When we finally did, it appeared to have been cleaned in a rush and wasn’t up to the standard we expected. One of the reasons we chose this hotel was because it advertised a light breakfast, but there was no breakfast available during our stay. The laundry room was also very dirty and poorly maintained. On top of that, we did not receive the room type we had booked. I understand that staffing issues happen, but I feel the hotel could have communicated better, offered some type of compensation for the delayed check-in, or made more of an effort to ensure guests received the amenities and room they reserved. Unfortunately, our experience was disappointing, and I hope these issues are addressed for future guests.

Though non-smoking now, it was clearly used for smoking for years. The room smelled badly of cigarettes, and the humidity from the bathroom caused old smoke accumulation to drip and streak down the door. Also past 10pm, staff were rolling very loud laundry carts past our room (unfortunately located near the laundry facilities). Front desk employee was very polite and checkin was easy. Location was perfect for our needs, though we will not stay here again mostly because of the old smoke smell.

This is my third time staying here and I will always recommend it. The rooms are clean and the beds are comfortable. We had one issue with noise and the staff resolved it immediately. This is the best place to stay with close proximity to anything you’d want to visit in Charleston. Highly recommend and will definitely stay again! The staff was also super welcoming and friendly! Thank you!
