We usually stay at the Embassy Suites when we travel to Charleston. They have free breakfast and it is good. The rooms are bigger and the price is very similar so for the Holiday Inn to be competitive they are going to have to change some things drastically.

After coming here for a few visits like 6 or 7 years ago we were surprised and how down hill it has gone. The room was horribly out dated. The bathroom was disgusting. Like dried drips of something coming down the wall. Smelled musty. The pool is the only thing I can say is pretty good. We will not be staying here again.

Staff was great. Facilities were leaking - chairs faux leather upholstery was peeling, bathtub faucet was loose and pulling away from the wall. The kitchenette was nice to have but the underside of the couch cushions were covered in dog hair when we went to pull out the sofa bed. I chose the location because of the sunbathing self in the pool so my toddler’s could enjoy the pool - it didn’t disappoint. The rest left lots of room for improvement and though staff was nice and helpful, overall I didn’t feel comfortable during my stay.

We have been staying at this hotel at least twice a year for 8 years. The staff are always welcoming, kind and helpful. My complaint is that new ownership (we were told this by staff) has taken over and the cost of the rooms went up significantly. The cost has outpaced the return and sadly — we will find another place to stay in the future. This is not a reflection on the staff — they are and have always been great.
