Not a hotel, motel, or B&B, and a bit of a confusing check in process, but perfect for a one-night sleep while travelling. The owner was super pleasant and accommodating with our late check in. With limited options in Chapleau, I recommend staying at the Crestview Guest House if you're an adult looking for a souped-up, private, hostel pad.

The room was clean, comfortable and surprisingly modern. I had difficulty finding the place and then when I got there, there was no one there. I phoned the number on the door and was told to go to a restaurant back downtown to check in. I paid extra to upgrade to a room with a private bathroom. However, once all that was sorted I had a nice stay and the restaurant turned out to be good too. The staff were outstanding.

Not a typical motel or hotel, rather a residence for a short or long stay. Most people seem to stay there for living with name plaques on their doors. The public kitchens are fully equipped and washrooms are well maintained, but private utensils are mixed with those provided by the residence, making us travellers nervous to choose carefully. Official check-in is located several kilometers away in another motel (owned by the same owner?), we were ”lucky" that a gentleman was at the premises and checked us in on site with IPAD. Later unfortunately we found that the residence main door code was forgotten to be given and a helpful person opened it for us when coming back without sharing the code for good security reason, which we well understood, but that compelled us to drive to that check-in office across the local river for it after all. Particular ackwardness comes from a guy living next door who strode in and out of the kitchen and washroom when we were in without a single word or nod from his stern head, preparing his meal and using the washroom ahead of us, exerting a vibe that he owned the place in some way, and on one occasion bringing out a full bag of cutlery and pulling out some serious knives loudly onto the table in front of us. I'm rather sure he meant no specific threat or harm, maybe just out of habit. Chableau seems to have very limited options for travellers' stay, hotel rates are on raised levels, hence we chose the relatively cheaper place.

The check-in was not at the location given to me at registration. After calling and spoke to Paul, was redirected to a restaurant where I was informed that instead of a queen bed with attached bath, I had a twin bed with a SHARED bath, as indicated to them by Expedia. Only after showing my expedia app trip, did they relent, saying they would upgrade to an executive suite. The water taps did not work. I immediately cancelled my following trip with this vendor.

I booked this place on December 21st 2025 from my journey from Toronto to Saskatchewan. The highways were closed that day and I was stuck in Chapleau, ON. Was on the road since 4am and at 2:55pm (jiet before check in time, I booked 1 night. I got a notification 5 minutes later that highways have reopened so I ended up continuing my journey. I tried to cancel at 3:05pm the same day but no response. I left voicemail, email and even contacted a specialist at expedia. They told expedia that they are not going to refund at all. Crazy! Took my $101.54!

Booked this as one of the few properties on Expedia for the area. Reached out twice, pre-arrival, for clarity on check in. Never happened. Arrived at 2, and check in wasn't till 3, even though the place wasn't close to being full. At check in, was charged more than the reserved price. Messaged the property again, using the Expedia site so there was a record, and never heard back. Don't trust this place. Stay somewhere else.

The entire property was very well maintained, but the carpet in my room (#10) was absolutely disgusting. I see that the bathroom had been renovated (beautifully so) and I hope they are planning to renovate the rest of the room soon. Aside from the gross carpet, this place was absolutely perfect for my 3-day stay. It was quiet, I could make tea in the very clean kitchen (there is daily housekeeping). It was a bit odd having to check in at a restaurant across town, but overall I would recommend the Crestview Guest House to anyone coming to stay in Chapleau.
