Vacations Close To Killruddery House and Gardens

Quiet and central district, knowledgeable and committed staff, would definitely return.

I was pretty disappointed by our stay at the Saint Augustine Staycity Aparthotels. It's listed as 4-star hotel on Hotels.com, probably because they pressure you to rate the place immediately when you check out, and I just did not find that it lived up to that rating. The staff was friendly, but the apartment was not in great condition. There was an infestation of drain flies/gnats in the bathroom and kitchen sink, so they were dying all over the place. Luckily, we didn't need the kitchen for cooking, because that would have been quite unsanitary. The tub in the bathroom was all scuffed up and brown on the bottom, and very curved - it would be dangerous for an older person to stand there to shower. The beds were hard as rocks and strangely uneven, so I often felt like I would slide out. We booked this apartment because it came with a washer/dryer, but one load of laundry was still damp after 6 hours of washing/drying. I've used washer/dryers all over the world so I get that it's not going to be as efficient as one in the US, but this was the worst I've encountered. That said, the location was very walkable, and we did have a lot of space. It was also cheaper than a lot of places. I just kind of ended up wishing we had spent a little more money for somewhere else, because for what we spent I didn't think it was worth it.

Common areas are well maintained but our room was a bit thread bare. Check in staff was a bit alof but all other encounters with hotel staff were friendly, especially the breakfast staff. The older woman who directs you to a table was a delight! The hotel is centrally located but some of the immediate area felt dodgy.

Very well located for walking around Dublin. Great for access to Temple Bar area without having to deal with crowds or noise! Walkable to train station for our trip to Howth.
