What a lovely place to stay, quality room nicely decorated confortable, clean, run by nice people, great breakfast. Who definitely reccomens and will go back
Really nice big room and above a lovely local pub. No noise issues at at all and we stayed on a friday and Saturday. The breakfast was very good and a large portion. And staff where very nice.
Stayed one night only. The room was comfortable. Even though the heating was not on due to it supposedly being summer, as the room was a little cold we were able to turn on an electric wall heater to take the chill off the room & a blow heater in the bathroom.
The quality and pricing of food and drink in the bar were excellent. The cooked breakfast was included, which was also delicious. Would definitely stay again.
The check in was easy and the room was clean and very comfy. Good beer served at the bar and good breakfast in the morning. The pub is a 5 minute drive from carnforth and the taxis are a bit hit and miss, this obviously isn't the pubs fault. Great stay and would recommend.
Stayed just overnight. Owner welcomed us an carried my bag to the room. (Lovely touch.) Tea was very nice & we enjoyed the beer & the atmosphere of the pub. Really comfy bed & so peaceful. Full English Breakfast gave us a good start for the day. Will definitely stay again if in the area.
It was located outside of Carnforth, in warton. We were not aware of the walking distance with luggage between Carnforth and warton and the busses were hard (at least for us) to locate. It was a pleasant walk albeit a little tedious with narrow sidewalks and streets and fast moving cars. That said, our hosts st the hotel in warton were lovely and hospitable and were kind enough to drive us back to Carnforth train station the next day so we could catch the train for the rest of our journey. From our hotel in Warton, there was a lovely, public walking trail in the fields, which was very ‘British’ and scenic and a welcomed break in the midst of our busy travels. There is also a lovely church and an old rectory which was interesting to wander through. This little community offered us a forced slow down which resulted in helping to centre us for the next leg of our journey.
We were staying at the George Washington because years ago this pub (then the Black Bull) had been owned by my great grandfather so we would have liked it for that reason if for no other. However, we were delighted by the charming building, the comfortable and large rooms, the class of the pub and the food and the attention of the owners. Warton is a very small town and very quiet but it is wonderfully located near many attractions and the George Washington makes a great base to explore from while still being able to return to a quiet, comfy pub in the evening and get a good drink and food.
Comfortable pub for an overnight stop. There is ample off street parking in their car park and a very pleasant local walk to a nature reserve. We ate at the pub and had a very good vegetarian lasagne. In fact there were three other veggie options too. Very good selection of draft beer available. A hearty breakfast was part of our overnight stay and that set us up very well for our drive to Scotland. Would definitely stay here again.

One night stay
After being stuck in traffic and driving thru torrential rain we finally arrived late. We had missed out on the evening food available but was assisted with ordering a take away to eat in the bar area and were given plates etc... Very friendly, helpful and positive and would recommend. Breakfast was good and room was comfortable.

Nice enough room for a night
Big room and bathroom, furnishings a little dated but fine. Bed very comfy and good quality bed linen and towels. Landlord was somewhat brusque, not particularly friendly. Food was great in the pub but beware, they stop serving at 8pm. Breakfast from 8am so if you are here for the diving at Capernwray then not early enough. Probably a little bit overpriced for what it was but it was convenient so nevermind.
Comfortable bed, quiet room with everything that was needed, very convenient arrangement for private access, friendly service, traditional breakfast well-prepared and well-presented. Recommended.
Nice spot. Good breakfast and very friendly owners. Wish we had arrived early enough to have dinner there. Bed was too firm for my preference but that's fairly minor all considering.
The staff are lovely a knowledgable about the area. Food was outstanding and reasonably priced. Beds comfortable and room clean. Would highly recommend
We were made very welcome. The breakfast was fantastic - had cereal, tea, coffee, orange juice and a full cooked breakfast!
The meals at night were also really nice would definitely recommend the homemade steak and ale pie!
Fantastic stay once again.
Stayed for 2 nights whilst working in the area and visiting local county show. Janet and James have a friendly low key manner that puts you at ease as soon as you arrive. The food (all freshly cooked) is excellent and great value for money whilst the cozy bar provides a great atmosphere. Breakfast is amazing and really sets you up for the day. Without doubt this is one of the best Inns I have stayed in and I travel throughout the UK every week.
Lovely warm welcome from James after a very long journey. Room (room1) is very spacious with a huge bathroom ensuite. Excellent home cooked food (evening meal and breakfast)from Janet. Would thoroughly recommend and would love to stay again should I be in the area.
When we return to carnforth for a weekend will definitely stay here again .Very friendly staff and local customers in the bar, didn't eat there but the food being served looked delicious.
A pub with 6 guest rooms good range of food and beers available.
Excellent breakfast.
The pub has character and offers comfortable accommodation with ample free parking.
