Staff was nice, property was near beach. Shower was nice and hot. The beds were noisy as the box springs were audible from outside. The blanket had what may have been cigarette burns. All towels and bed sheets looked like it had been used to detail a Mac truck engine. We can hear the adjacent room guest breathing.

The people who run the Scandia are very nice. It is quiet and comfortable and the housekeeping ladies are wonderful. It is in a unique location that feels special. You hear the chimes of the Army/Navy Academy and an occasional freight train. If you are respectful of your neighbors and the property you will have a peaceful stay at Scandia. You can walk to the pretty parks nearby or to the Farmer’s Market on Wednesday in the Downtown. For me, I love the serenity here and it is fun to meet and talk to other nice people staying here. The shower is spacious and nice and I love the decent-sized refrigerator. The room has everything you need and I have slept very well here. The parking is also very nice close to your room. I have been very happy here. My mother is getting a lung transplant which is stressful but the people here and sense of community this motel projects has made it a lot lighter for me. At the end of the day driving to and from Scripps La Jolla I look forward to coming back to Scandia to relax, open the windows and enjoy fresh ocean air and a plush comfortable room. This has been one of the most memorable places I’ve ever stayed simply because of the staff and that it is not your typical motel. It has charm.
