Being so close to the station was ideal as we travelled by train. The hotel was clean and seemed to be newly refurbished. There was an ace Indian called Shaha just a couple of walk away. The wetherspoons round the corner called Wiiliam Rufus was also clean and friendly.

Having read some of the previous reviews, I arrived with managed expectations. On the pro side, the staff were very friendly, the location very convenient and surprisingly quiet, and the bed comfortable. On the con side, the carpet and furniture (and even the floor boards) were worn, the bathroom was cold, and the shower confusing. It looks like some of the other rooms have been renovated, so with a little extra care, this could be a nice place to stay.
