The staff is hospitable, lovely and helpful. Food in restaurant is delicious. Bed was super comfy. Water pressure was the best we have had in any hotel. Internet was convenient.

In a prime location but comes with the difficulties of people nagging you for money/ bread on the street. Property itself is not 5*, more like 4*. Spacious room, excellent breakfast and very courteous/ helpful staff. Got to see the real Cape Town a bit because of location. Could provide 2 bottles of water per day rather than the strict policy of one/room. Enjoyed the stay and would highly recommend

Second time staying here and it was just as great as the first time. As before, everyone was super welcoming and helpful and the room was fantastic. The restaurant too! It is well located with an interesting market nearby and an easy Uber/cab ride to the waterfront and other places. Thoroughly recommended - and I hope to visit again in the future!

The Gorgeous George Hotel was the perfect stop to end our honeymoon. The room was spacious and the bed comfortable. The complimentary breakfast was delicious. If there is an event at the restaurant, it can be heard in your room but the earplugs helped with the noise.

It was a little confusing ti find since its on a pedestrian street. I called the hotel and they sent the bell boy to direct me on how to get there. The rooms besides being very comfortable for my family and I, was very chic. You will fall in love with the rooftop restaurant. Reminded me of a LA chic vibe. The cocktails were amazing. The vibe was great. Athough it felt the hotel would be a great place for younger traveleres, there were so accommodating to my family and I. As a matter of fact, there were lots of families with young toddlers staying here. The staff throughout the hotel was so cortious and helpful. They even walked with me to a grocery store to buy some stuff. I would have liked to have stayed for longer nights. I would definitely stay here again.

Great service and both the rooms and the restaurant were really nice. Entry and hallways need to be refreshed. Do your research to make sure you want to be in the city center - with that said we had no issues. Access to the Bree St restaurants was nice.

I have been going to Mining Indaba for more than a decade and stayed in many different hotels, including big brand names. Gorgeous George is by far the best I have stayed at in so many respects. However, what perhaps stands out most is the staff. Most hotels have courteous, helpful staff. GG goes beyond this. They are genuinely friendly and fun. The hotel has free access to a top gym, their restaurant is cool and has terrific food. The rooms are spacious and elegant with good amenities. I will no longer be searching around for new hotels in Cape Town. I have found my place and will keep going to GG from now on.

The hotel is fantastic - great decor visually in all the spaces, but also well thought out, and the room was really well done too, with lots of extras and plenty of space. Powerful shower and extremely comfortable bed! The restaurant is amazing for breakfast, lunch and dinner and on top of it all there is a venue downstairs with occasional events. When I was there there was a great gig that felt very special - I was very glad to have stumbled on that (I should add that this finished at a reasonable time and I didn't notice it being disturbing from the room). Above all, the staff were incredibly helpful, friendly, welcoming and patient - organising cars for onward trips and transfers and with general advice. I went out in the immediate area in the day and felt safe, although I was warned about being sensible and careful with belongings at various times which made me a little extra cautious (this seems to be the case in Cape Town and other cities generally, not specific to the area immediately around the hotel, although if I'd gone out at night I would have taken a car rather than walking). Geographically, the location is good though, with a market nearby and a few museums - and it's very easy to take a car to various other sites.

NOT a 5 star hotel!

We chose this hotel because it had a 5 star rating and it offered a suite with two king beds and 1 queen bed—perfect for our family, so it was worth the splurge. We booked it, and then it turned out that neither was accurate. The advertised room didn’t even exist! We arrived late, tired and hungry, and too late to find another hotel, so the only way to get a 2nd king bed was to pay for a 2nd room, making the cost even higher. Totally unfair and unprofessional. The hotel staff handled it very poorly—they made us wait forever while they tried to find a manager or anyone who would know how to handle the situation. They had no idea what they were doing. When they finally gave us an additional price to pay (and even wrote it in their notes!), the next day, they ended up charging us an even higher amount! This was not anything like a 5 star hotel! They also had no concierge or other amenities to make the hotel in keeping with such a rating.
