We had the best stay at Avondrood. The location was great to easily walk along the main road in the town with all the restaurants and shops etc. The breakfast was delicious and the rooms spacious and luxurious but what really stood out was the staff. Not only were they just lovely individuals, they couldn't do enough to recommend places to eat, vineyards to drink at and ensured that we had the most amazing stay. Don't hesitate to book Avondrood.

I can't say enough good things about our stay. The staff was phenomenal. So very welcoming and helpful with ideas for spending our time in Franschhoek. Our room was beautiful, large and comfortable. Breakfast was delicious with many choices. The location is in town within walking distance to many shops, restaurants and the wine tram. Highly recommend Avondrood Guest House.

Amazing 2nd visit

We chose to stay here again after an amazing first visit in Nov 2022. Justin Mitchell, who I understand is Operations Director for the entire hotel group (Oyster Collection), was brilliant, as always. From my first email to him, months before we arrived, to saying goodbye at the end of our visit. His staff are well informed, attentive, yet beautifully informal in their approach. It remains one of the nicest places my husband & I have ever stayed in. We can't wait to come back!

Amazing stay and amazing staff at Avondrood. Our room was fabulous and well appointed. The included breakfast was great, and it was nice to have a bar on site for an evening drink. Avondrood is well located in beautiful Franschhoek and an easy to walk to restaurants and shops. My wife and I walked in the evening to restaurants in town and felt safe walking back at night. The setting within the Winelands is spectacular and Avondrood was a great jumping off point to explore many estates and wineries. Our only regret was not planning more time to enjoy the amenities at Avondrood Guest House and the small town of Franschhoek more. It is truly a gem and we would not hesitate to stay there again.

Simply outstanding!

Our 4th stay at this outstanding guest house! Beautiful rooms, lovely breakfast, beautiful gardens. What makes this place special though is the people. Karloff, Juvelie and Jamie-Lee were incredible together with Justin. My husband was taken seriously ill as we arrived and eventually had to be hospitalised. They looked after me as a family would. They went well beyond the call of duty and checked up on me constantly We will hopefully be returning when my husband is better. The nicest place in beautiful Franschhoek by far

Considering the fact that we have booked the hotel only 15 minutes before arriving, everything was perfect from start to finish. Extremely friendly staff and feeling like we’re at home from the moment we walked in. Room was ready within minutes (despite the spontaneous arrival) though we would have happily waited longer as the host Justin has poured us a nice and chilled glass of wine and allowed us to settle. And what a host he was! Justin has helped us organise the whole stay, made fantastic recommendations on things to do and even assisted with dinner bookings in fantastic places. Truly a wonderful stay and close to everything you need, restaurants, wine tram and vineyards! Huge thank you and we definitely will be coming back sooner than we expected! Paulina and J

Justin and his staff were absolutely amazing. The guesthouse is so quaint and in the most perfect part of town close to Main Street and the wineries. Only wish we could have stayed in Franschoek longer! Will definitely be back and would recommend this guesthouse to anyone going!! Yummy breakfast and great tips from the staff. Sehr gut gelegenes Guesthouse mit großzügigen Zimmern (superior room). Der Service ist exzellent - wir haben tolle Empfehlungen für Restaurants/ Weintouren bekommen. Als Familie mit einem Kleinkind haben wir problemlos ein babybett bestellt bekommen. Das Frühstück war wunderbar: toll angerichtet, lecker und auf der tolle Terrasse serviert. Es war einfach perfekt!
