Overall, we had a very good stay. The food and service were excellent, the spa and amenities were great, and everyone we encountered was warm and hospitable. We tipped 25% throughout our stay because we genuinely appreciated the level of service.
***We also booked a private dinner at Malpeque, which was exactly the experience I had pictured. Unfortunately, there was a significant issue with the wine: I intended to order a bottle for roughly 1,500 pesos ($85 USD) but was instead charged a bottle costing approximately US$1,500. This resulted in a dinner bill of around US$2,500, including nearly US$430 in gratuity. I did not ask for compensation, but this was a substantial and costly mistake. The next day i brought it to the resort's attention, and they admitted that they had made a mistake in the charges, and it should have been 85$ USD. I am still waiting for the error to be corrected, but I tipped based off a 2500$ USD bill = $430 USD tip. I want to believe this was an accident, and not an "angle" on their part. But be careful about wrongful charges ***
The resort was also unusually quiet during our stay, with perhaps only 6-8 other couples around, so it lacked some atmosphere. We also had an unpleasant breakfast experience being seated directly beside an obnoxious couple when the restaurant was empty.
Despite these issues, the overall service was excellent, and the staff were consistently gracious and hospitable.
