Rooms were clean but there was a damp smell on entering the room, and the bathroom sink took ages for water to clear. It's the only 4* hotel I've been to in years where there were no tea/coffee facilities in your room. Food was mediocre at best. Not enough coffee, juice stations, long queues at breakfast, the draught beer at dinner came out as pure froth. The pools were clean, however, sun beds were dirty, sagging ripped and so close together you had to climb onto beds , not enough room to walk between. Hardly any sun umbrellas, not really good enough. Access to the beach was great, if you have mobility issues I would avoid, so many levels and blocks. Disappointed with this stay, as we have stayed at Barceló group previously, would not return to this one sorry

Pleasant hotel, friendly and helpful staff. Enjoyed the stay. But, wouldn't stay again. We faced many issues with the rooms that the staff needed to resolve. In my experience, it just makes a 4-star rating. The hotel needs investment in upgrades and maintenance to uphold a 4-star standard, as well as improvements to the quality of its amenities and facilities, which are well below a 4-star standard.

Unfortunaltely the beautiful beach is getting floaded by sea oil and crop resuides. Some more healthy food options would be great to have as our little girl (3 years) such as different cooked vegetables and fruits. The variety of food elsewhere was good and the entertaines and waiters were very friendly and did a great job.

It is very convenient for familes with kids, the beach is right next door plus you have another lovely beach 17min away on foot. Its sort of isolated so its a perfect getaway for those enjoying nature. The hotel was decent , good service although it feels that they lack on a number of staff at restaruant and bar area. Nothing major however its area for improvement. The kids club is great facility , you have 2 hours in the morning and afternoon to leave the little ones and get a bit of a break. The kids entertainer called Andrea was very good , the kids loved going to the club most likely becuase of her. I think they didnt miss a single session which was great.

No Sun at this hotel, but a very smelly room.

Firstly, if you are planning to go to this hotel for some sun, it's probably not a great idea. The poor design means the swimming pools all sit to the North of the hotel which ensures they are kept in shade all day. Just in case there is an opportunity as the sun moves through the sky, some strategically placed Palm Trees ensure there is still no sun. Secondly, our room stunk. I mean it stunk. We complained about it and they sent a maid and a handyman who together poured an industrial amount of chemicals down each plughole and hoped for the best. It alleviated the problem for an hour or so, but then the staus quo was resumed. Further complaints to reception meant that we could downgrade to an inferior room but with no partial refund, or we could put up with it. As we were only staying for 3 nights, and we were now on day 2, not to mention that we'd un-packed already, we decided against the move and instead did what we could to stay out of the room. Reception tried to blame the rain that we had seen on Day 2 - but the stink started long before this. We ended up spending a whole day on the nearby beach as it's the only place that get's the sun. Of course we had to pay for the privilege and we had to travel back across the beach, and back up into the hotel every time we wanted a drink - not ideal! The experience of a 'Superior Room with views' was really disappointing. I'm normally very positive, but this left a bitter taste.

Cold food. Buffet heaters and not keeping the food hot. Not much choice with food, only 1 restaurant on premises. After bar closes no access to drinking water on the premises. Dirty beach. Staff ok. Hotel should be more maintained. Reception spotless. The rest of the hotel not so much. Dirty cups everywhere. Room cleaning ladies real angels. Taxi or uber hard to get, be prepared for £70 to drive to Palma one way. Better to rent a car for a full day. Walk to Magaluf (nearest civilisation) around 30mins. There is a bus but goes every hour. Hotel is rather stranded. Would we visit again? No.

Wonderful family holiday!

Hotel is really wonderful! We stayed for 4 nights in June. 4 adults and a 16 month old. Swimming pool options are great, Barcy club for the kids was great, buffet options were really varied, waiters and waitresses were very friendly, rooms were comfortable and we had an incredible view over the sea, activities were great. The real gem was you can walk down a small slope and you are on the beach, it’s incredible! Very safe beach with shallow water. We had a wonderful stay here. Thank you!

This hotel desperately needs a refurbishment. The reception area is new and modern , the staff are lovely but the “Blocks” housing the rooms are old and dirty . The pool area was disgustingly dirty . Bird mess left for days uncleaned and sun beds falling apart !

We have just returned from a perfect, three generational holiday at the Occidental. We needed a hotel that was a short transfer from Palma airport , close to a beach and suitable for a toddler, teens and 20-30 year-olds and a Nana that likes quiet. The Occidental not only met these expectations but surpassed them. The numerous pools, restaurant and bar facilities, children’s activities and hotel rooms were even better than we could have expected having read some of the previous reviews. I simply do not understand how people can be critical of this hotel or their staff. They went above and beyond and always had time for your queries no matter how busy they were. To those holidaymakers who complained of the noise, I would suggest you ask for quiet rooms. We did just this and they were perfect. To those holidaymakers who complained of the food, I wonder what more they could be expecting as the choice was plentiful. During our holiday, I observed the managers going around and checking on things daily. You can see they really care and want to make our holiday the best it can be and for this I thank them. I would particularly like to mention the staff at the children’s pool. The attendant always had his eyes peeled and this was particularly reassuring when you have children in the water. We enjoyed our holiday so much at this hotel and are hoping to return in the future. Thank you.

Awful customer service, rude staff who didn't care about our complaints and ho also lied. We were put in a basement room that had no door on the bathroom, not even a door on the toilet. The room looked like it was being renovated and hadn't been finished - there was a rail where a door should have been. The bed linen was cheap and thin. The aircon didn't work properly. The hairdryer didn't work and was poor quality. There was a cockroach in the hallway scuttling around. This is NOT a 4 star hotel, it would barely scrape a 3 star. Staff made no effort to resolve this and we had to complain everyday and take 30mins daily doing this.When I asked for the room to be discounted they said no but they would upgrade us if we visit again. I would certainly never visit this hotel again - unbelievably awful - AVOID! Expedia should not list a hotel that has no doors on the bathroom or toilet - false marketing which is illegal in the UK.

Bei der Ankunft wurde uns ein kleineres Zimmer gegeben obwohl wir das Familienzimmer gebucht haben. Leider war der Grund eine Lüge! Die Klimaanlage müsste repariert werden und am nächsten Tag könnten wir rein. Leider wurde darauf auch nichts. Auf meine Frage ob wir das Zimmer wenigstens sehen könnten - hieß es - aus versicherungstechnischen Gründe wäre es nicht möglich… am nächsten Morgen (Tag 3.) habe ich an der Rezeption angerufen und mich erkundigt ob das Zimmer fertig sei - darauf bekam ich die Antwort - ja - die anderen sind jetzt ausgecheckt. Eine Überbuchung kann passieren, den Gast aber für dumm zu verkaufen und ständig eine neue Geschichte zu erzählen ist schon respektlos! Als wir im gebuchten Zimmer angekommen sind, war die Klimaanlage kaputt… Im Essenssaal ist die Klimaanlage ständig kaputt gewesen, es gab vielleicht 2-3 Tage an denen es dort angenehm war. Im gym waren Geräte kaputt und auch da hat eine von zweien Klimaanlagen funktioniert. Die Anlage ist als ich komplett veraltet, nur der Empfang ist „schick“ gemacht. Das Personal ist leider nicht wirklich hilfsbereit! Als wir in das größere Zimmer umziehen durften, wurde nicht mal Hilfe angeboten (um die Koffer zu holen). In den ersten 4 Tagen habe ich mit 3 Hotelmanager gesprochen, jeder hat sich ständig nur entschuldigt. Das Personal im Essenssaal hat auch gerne mal meine Kinder und mich provoziert, weil wir uns zu 6 an einen 5 er Tisch gesetzt haben - und umsetzen wollten - als alle das Essen hatten.
