Best Western Royal Hotel was a superb place for our stay in Caen. The facility itself was well designed, very clean and the beds are comfortable. The breakfast was well prepared and prompt. There are several restaurants with walking distance. The staff were fluent in English which was especially helpful for us. We would definitely stay there again.

Room was smaller than expected, very tight to unload two suitcases, but I guess it is Europe. Beautiful view of court yard outside. Walkable to the old city, churches, and many restaurants

An underground car park is opposite the hotel at euro 19 for 24 hours so made it easy to get to the car during storms, although car spaces were tight and much manoeuvring required. Plenty of bars and restaurants nearby.

We spent 4 nights in the hotel. Our family got 2rooms We scheduled room cleaning every other day but only 1 room was cleaned once. When we returned we need to ask for extra towels because no one cleaned both rooms.

Good central hotel

Great location, friendly staff, spacious comfy rooms and a car park just feet away. It was ideal of a one night stop over for us but would also be a good centre for a few days. Restaurants just a short walk away and a nice breakfast. Would have preferred non machine coffee but it was still good.

great location to park, walk, ride local bus/tram-

first rate location, under ground parking across street. free local mini-bus picks up outside, easy walk to town center and most old town activities in Caen. Air Con as well!

Air conditioning had not been working for days before my 24 hour cancellation window expired and didn’t say that the a/c wasn’t working, and wouldn’t be working the entire time we would be there. Discovered this when we got into our room and there was a letter in the bed stating it was not working, offered as much ice and water dispenser water that we wanted. I could have gone elsewhere if they had told me the situation. Had to sleep with the windows wide open and the noise outside and street lights of course led to not sleeping the entire stay! Don’t even offer a free breakfast or free parking to say sorry about the situation!

Location was very good. Receptionists were very helpful, in particular one who was totally fluent in English. In the breakfast room I observed that the knives and forks were placed with the handles at the bottom of the containers with knives and forks. It means everybody will touch the part you put in your mouth when they pick up theirs. It is also a health code violation (at least in the US). When I took my concerns to the reception they said, actually some other guest pointed it out also, but I do not think they will change it while you are here! REALLY. S I did not take breakfast any more in the hotel..
