This beautiful waterfall is found in the Catlins and is an easy walk to get to. When you reach a fork in the path, take the one that goes down to get to this waterfall. Alternatively, if you would like to see another waterfall above this one, check my profile out to see the Horseshoe Falls!
Only a short walk from the side of the road in the Catlins, you can easily visit both the Matai Falls and the Horseshoe Falls (in image). To get to the Horseshoe Falls, simply take the path that goes up steeply instead of the one that goes down. It's definitely worth it!

Catlins Forest Park

The Purakaunui Falls are one of the most beautiful waterfalls in New Zealand outside the mountains. Down in the Catlins it's off a gravel road past Papatowai. It's a bit hard to find online or concretely on a map, but there are yellow street signs everywhere pointing you there, so just follow the yellow signs and you'll get there, then its a quick 20 minute walk down to the falls
