Really great hotel, the room was lovely and spacious, I just wish the shower could've gone colder. The water seems to be permanently hot no matter how far you turn the shower controls!
Staff very friendly and helpful.
Nice pub with rooms. I was told that the hotel part was going to renovated later in the year but the room that I stayed in was very comfortable. Will definitely use the Fox again.
The property is absolutely lovely and the staff are excellent. The breakfast is also really great. The location is perfect. We really enjoyed our stay and want to come back.
The only minor negatives were, the TV is ridiculously small and most of the Freeview channels don’t work due to low or poor signal - surely a hotel in 2025 can resolve this issue? It would have been nice to get a complimentary bottle of water every day and not just on arrival. The WiFi kept dropping and we had to keep reconnecting which is very frustrating.
First time i have stayed at The Fox Inn but won't be my last, a great place to stop with very friendly staff. The room was fantastic and had everything you need, tea, coffee, shower & my room also had a bath.Plenty of parking directly outside your room. The pub itself was lovely, the food was fantastic along with the traditional English breakfast i had in the morning. Nothing but good things to say about the Fox Inn..
We got here and they gave us a wonderful room for 2 nights. No 6
Food was excellent, all staff so friendly. Very convenient in a lovely town with train station a short walk away. We took the train into Cambridge.
Definitely going to return
Birthday stayover, we attended the Apex for a music event. The Fox had ample free parking, early book in, lovely walk into town via ruins gardens. Room was clean, warm, quiet and comfortable. We would definitely stay again and i would recommend
The perfect stay. We attended an event just up the road so picked The Fox for the location. The accommodation was loveky, so cosy! The food was fantastic, there are vegan choices which was very important to us and all of the staff were really wonderful. Special shout out to Clare who was so lovely. We will definitely be back the same time next year if not before.
My husband and I stayed in room 6 which is rather special. It is a huge room with a lovely oval bath in the bedroom and separate shower and WC with two hand basins. There was also a desk and chair and comfy leather sofa and a TV. The chandeliers and large mirrors added a bit of glamour. We ate at the pub on our first night and enjoyed our meal and the service. The Fox Inn is ideally situated opposite the Abbey gardens which is a beautiful stroll into town. All the restaurants and amenities were in short walking distance. On Saturday there was a large market which sold a variety of goods.
We checked Into the hotel and just wanted to drop our bags off and go back out to explore bury St Edmunds more.
Once back from a great wander around we returned to the room.
Our room was a superior room and had an amazing double bath in the room. Unfortunately there is no products that you would expect to use in an amazing bath. So out I go again to purchase some bubbles. Upon my return I started to run the bath and discovered an unexpected amount of dust in the bath. This resulted in me cleaning the bath before we entered. One in the bath it was very nice. But unfortunately while laying in the bath your eyes are then attracted to sounding areas and the dust was everywhere. I can only assume that the room had not been stayed in for a while and had got dusty from the previous clean.
This then resulted in us not feeling very satisfied about paying a premium price (£184.00) for a superior room. Things got worse unfortunately the room was very grubby and could do with a freshen up!
Staff in the pub were very nice but unfortunately got our order wrong when we had breakfast. They gave us another couples order and they had ours.
We should have complained but we had planned a nice weekend away for valentines and didn’t want the confrontation.
The whole hotel and pub are very tired and could be absolutely amazing. Room very grubby but a beautiful space. Few things need replacing and cleaning and painting.
