The Walnut Tree is an ideal hotel as a stop-off between destinations, if you need a break when driving a long distance. We needed a base to visit other Somerset places and the like, and chose it for convenience and its proximity to motorway and cross-country routes and its excellent over-night parking, for which it was very good. While the food was also very good (breakfast was included in our rate - evening meal had to be booked ahead, but was also very good), the area was devoid of walkable restaurants for variety and only had takeaways.

The room was great, although it would have been better if there had been a fan. I visited during a heatwave and although there was a large window, a fan would have been much appreciated. The staff were always helpful, and I was grateful for the ice I was given whenever I asked for some.

It was great EXCEPT there was NO hairdryer in my room (yes I checked all the drawers in everything - Love playing where's Waldo on the hairdryers in the UK) - didn't notice til early the next am 6 am - no one on duty while they offered to bring one up calling number at reception - I was on my way out -

Very handy independent hotel great for a stop off on the way to Cornwall, just off the M5 but quiet and comfortable. Lots of free parking with EV charging. Friendly staff, good value and really great food and breakfast in the restaurant, highly recommended! The executive room we had was huge!

Its a lovely old place. Granted it isnt a new build, but the beds are comfortable and you get a bath. And lovely and toasty in the winter. Perfect location for wither taunton or Bridgwater and a free car park.

Restaurant food was very nice and good value. Breakfast was excellent the hit options were all freshly cooked and good quality. The continental options were also good quality and varied. The room was a little tired and some or the corridor areas could do with a freshening up. All told a very nice overnight stay and will stay again when in the area. Thank you to the restaurant staff who were all very friendly and looked after their guests.

Another stay at this lovely hotel. Yes it's a little shabby in places & the carpets could do with a cleaning but what makes this hotel are the staff. Their attention to detail, friendly, polite & efficient service is second to none. The food is excellent. All in all this is a cosy hotel & well worth a visit. I do also think the room pricing is very competitive for the area.
