We have been to this property several times, as it is an old building they had some issues with the ceiling in the bar, but they were very apologetic and for us it didn't affect our stay as we use it as a base. The breakfast was good, the rooms clean and the staff friendly, we will definitely go again.

Room was very clean and cosy. Very convenient posirion. Staff friendly and helpful. Hotel could do with a new carpet and a bit of a refresh. Breakfast a bit bland. But overall a nice stay.

Very happy. Two nice rooms spotlessly clean with a lovely sea view. Staff were very helpful and the price was very good value for money. The buffet breakfast was excellent and set us up for the day. Only stayed one night but would be happy to recommend this hotel. We were fine but maybe it would be difficult for the disabled as there are several steps to enter the hotel and to get down to the reasturant for breakfast.

Weekend stay

Used to be a great Hotel, no staff, no service, ie room service. The most basic of Hotels give you a choice of teas Coffee, Hot chocolate , biscuits in your room, but not The Cottonwood. No one to explain breakfast, lovely and clean , lovely towels , but you can’t really call this a Hotel anymore . Really a B&B. Such a shame

On first impressions the external is very tired and rundown, the inside however is unique and quirky, like a boutique hotel is. It is clean and smells fresh. The room was a family partial sea view and had lots of storage and space around the beds. The bathroom was a good size. Only downfall was all the windows were very old and only 1 would open in the room and the bathroom one. Comfy, clean beds and clean soft towels. We all slept well and felt safe. Breakfast was good and enough choice for the day ahead. Parking on site is easy. An offer to help with luggage would have been welcomed as the lift was out of order and the hotel is a bit tired, however, we would stay here again. It was convenient to reach Bournemouth pier and only 10 mins from Southbourne which was lovely

Short trip to Bournemouth

The positives: * Hotel is in a good location. close to the city centre. * Very quiet * Rooms were cleaned well * Staff was efficient when they could be found * Very soft and comfortable bath towels The negatives: * The hotel building is very old * The floor boards were squeaking with every step and I feared some could be rotten, * Bed mattresses were very hard and squeaky * Staff were not always available at reception when an issue would occur - we had a leak from the floor above us one night and I struggled a bit to find someone to address it.

The carpet was old and didn't sit flat on the floor. The bathroom was barely big enough to shut the door when entering, and the lighting in both the bathroom and bedroom was pre-WWII. The restaurant didn't exist, and while the view across the ocean was beautiful, hiking to the beach was long and arduous. It is not the fault of the hotel that a four day airshow shattered our eardrums; or that the loud and inebriated guests and staff were right under our window blowing cigarette smoke into the stuffy, non-ventilated room most nights, but the staff could have been more mindful of the problem. I do not recommend this hotel, or Bournemouth.

Get the money? Make sure is registered as paid.

When I booked the room it was saying that there is available parking. But nowhere that I have to pay. Once arrived at the hotel they said that I have to pay for the parking £6 a night. As I was staying for two nights I had to pay £12. That completely fine but after 4 days I got myself a PCN for not paying the car park.

Nice hotel but a little tired.

Nice hotel but a little tired. Very few staff, but those we did have contact with were very helpful and extremely friendly. During our stay the Chef was sick so no meals other than breakfast available. In the two days we stayed we didn’t see the bar open at all. I understand that you had to request service from reception. Such a shame as the staff work extremely hard but there is just not enough of them

Hotellet lever på ingen måde op til billederne af det. Det er et slidt hotel som har haft sin storhedstid for mange år siden, ligesom de andre hoteller på gaden, og ikke er blevet vedligeholdt udvendigt. Værelset var ok, rent og pænt og med "begrænset" havudsigt. Vi havde forventet mere eftersom vi havde bestilt havudsigt. Indvendigt bar det præg af en hurtig smagløs istandsættelse med kunstige blomster i vinduerne og et underligt farvevalg. Restauranten på billederne var lukket og så faldefærdig ud. Morgenmaden og servicen fra personalet var tilfredsstillende. Hotellet er i gåafstand fra centrum, men gå op i byen og find en restaurant, dem der ligger nede ved vandet så ikke indbydende ud. Der er ikke adgang til stranden i umiddelbar nærhed af hotellet.
