“I was really looking forward to my stay at The Candlesticks. However as soon as I entered, I began to have my doubts. The bar area, where the owner received us, looked particularly shabby and it smelt musty. It was 3pm (an hour after checking-in should have started) and the room wasn't ready. It wasn't such a big deal, but it was another warning sign. I was in a single room, which made a certain saying about a cat spring to mind. “Lovely quaint hotel the 2nd oldest in Britain 1203 apparently, very busy and had a nice outside courtyard where there was live singing, we stayed as went to a Wedding near by but will definitely be going again, beds very comfortable and decent showers. Only downsides for us was that smoke form the courtyard wafted up into the room no fault of hotel but just an observation and Breakfast @£19 each was a little expensive we had breakfast a shot walk away which was half that and still great, plenty...
