The Merchant is a fantastic location to stay when visiting Salem. It is in close proximity to popular sites, shopping, and restaurants. Our room was spacious and well appointed. The staff was very helpful with their suggestions as well as contacting us about an item we left behind. Would definitely stay there again!

Superb property. Great location - immaculately decorated with such class and fun all rolled into one! Staff were wonderfully helpful and the kitchen area was stocked with interesting snacks and drinks. The only confusing part is where the back door is and are you just about to knock on a private home but perhaps that adds to the "whimsy" feel of the entire property. Will definitely stay there again. 10/10

The property was beautiful. Staff was friendly and knowledgeable. My only complaint is that we were expecting to be staying in a haunted hotel as stated in everything we read about the property. When speaking to the staff-no one had ever reported any experiences,nor had the staff who had worked there for years. “The history of the property” was falsely advertised and we were pretty disappointed in that. Especially for the price we had paid for our room. When you see a “bar” in a hotel,which was beautiful, you expect to see a bartender and beverage choices. Had we known there wasn’t either, we would have brought our own. It wasn’t really an issue because there was several across the street. Just know if you want to enjoy a cocktail on the deck, bring your own.

Everything was wonderful, and the bed and pillows were like sleeping on a cloud. What a nice property. Good coffee and lots of prepared snacks ready to grab any time. The only odd thing is that check-in is after 4PM, and the desk closes at 5PM. If you can't be there during that hour, you can check-in online, and they arrange for you to get in after hours, which did work well.

I love that there are food and snacks available at all times and on different levels of the house we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and when returning to Salem will stay again.
