It’s nice that they have two kitchens. The only downside is there’s only one restroom with a toilet for men — the other has just a urinal. The surprise thing is the troll trail. It is definitely a good experience worthy of family exploration.

I loved my little pod. It was super cozy and cute. I enjoyed the hot tubs and the walking trails around the property. The kitchen was well organized but could get busy during meals. There were plenty of bathrooms but they were all pretty basic. The private shower was busy and not easily available. The location is a good base for local sites but it was quite a drive out to the Snaefellsnes Peninsula.

We enjoyed staying in one of the cottages. Our only thing we didn’t like was that it was particularly breathable so it was very hot. If we opened the windows swarms of the little midges came in. If the windows had screens at least we could open it for air. Other than that, it was nice. Great views, fun property to walk for the Trolls, nice hot tubs. We would stay here again.

My wife and I stayed here for 4 days in August 2026 and had a fantastic time. The camping pod was clean and comfortable and offered everything we needed for a good sleep. Washrooms and showers were easily available and clean with plenty of hot water. The troll garden was an unexpected highlight of our trip and offered a breathtaking view of the surrounding scenery - we walked on it multiple times throughout our stay, both in the morning and evening. We dined in the bistro for our final supper and breakfast in Iceland and the food was so delicious and surprisingly reasonably priced (for Iceland 😁). We chatted with Steinar on our way out and he is an absolutely lovely person with a true passion for Iceland and trolls, all of which is reflected in Fossatún in its entirety. The only thing we didn’t get a chance to experience was the hot tubs, as they were always occupied whenever we wanted to go in them (to be fair, though, we were never around in the early evening as we were always out exploring other parts of Iceland until the sun went down at around 22:00). Also, the dryer was broken while we were there, so we had to air dry our clean clothes in our pod. But these are very minor quibbles that did nothing at all to diminish our overall experience. If we ever make it back to Iceland, we will make sure to stop by Fossatún for at least one night and another stroll in the troll garden.

Sleeping pod was cute - we were three and rented the bed linens. These were clean but old with holes and tears, and we needed to put them on ourselves ( that was fine, we wee just really tired and maybe should’ve stayed in a proper hotel). Only one large towel given. Bed was super comfortable but only a US double, not queen or king and we aren’t that tall but touched both ends easily. Someone 6’ or more would not be comfortable. The showers were a bit gross, kitchen and bathrooms clean and better than usual camping. Breakfast was fantastic! Very hearty. Troll trail, fun house and mini golf could all use tending to. Not the reason we came but would’ve been nice if they were in better shape at the start of the season!

My second time staying at the pods. Such a beautiful setting. Friendly staff, great food - with a view of a mountain and waterfall. Shared bathroom is worth it for the price.
The best spot for breakfast or dinner
So cozy- the bed is comfy and the black out curtain worked great.

A wonderful place to spend the night

The property was very nice, I enjoyed the interactive troll themed hiking trails and spring fed hot tubs in the evening. Cabins were clean and cozy, probably the comfiest mattress I slept on durning my trip. Each cabin had a small mini fridge and the shared bathrooms were only a 30 second walk away. Restaurant on site was good as well, friendly staff and delicious food. The waterfall is overlooks was stunning. All in all this was my favorite stay of my trip, I hope to return in the future.

the bathrooms are a good 5 to 10minute walk from your stay, but these pods were so cute and memorable. we loved our stay here! the night skies were clear and we were able to see both stars and northern lights together. it's nestled into a woodsy area so it was very quiet and peaceful.
