Lazy beds on Gob na Hoe A small and isolated patch of former cultivation, perched precariously above the cliffs on the west side of Loch Dunvegan.

The MacCrimmon memorial cairn The cairn sits on Boreraig Hoe above Loch Dunvegan. The inscription on it is in Gaelic. It translates (to the best of my limited ability) as: "Remembrance cairn for the Clan MacCrimmon, hereditary pipers to the Macleods for ten generations and who were famous as writers, players and teachers of bagpipe music. Close to this place was the MacCrimmon music school from 1500 to 1800 AD."

The MacCrimmon Memorial. The Memorial to the famous piping dynasty of MacCrimmons above Loch Dunvegan. The MacCrimmons were hereditary pipers to the Chiefs of Clan MacLeod of Dunvegan, and composed many classical pieces of music in their honour, as well as founding a renowned school of piping at Borreraig. The 17th Century was the high point of their acclaim, with their last pupil, a MacArthur, graduating in the 1780s. The cairn pictured was built in 1933, paid for by Clan Societies and donations from around the world. View 1129577 , Detail 1129586.

Abandoned land at Borreraig This view looks over uncultivated land in Borreriag, part of which has at one time been enclosed by a stone wall. The 'lump' on the headland behind the white house is Dùn Boreraig Broch. The water is Loch Dunvegan.
