Absolutely Not 5 star, should be 3 star at best. I only book 5 star and have never been disappointed in Italy, regardless of staying in small towns like Bolsena.
Overall Under staffed, at least for 5 star. The single pool staff person would leave for hours at a time each day, leaving you unable to get drinks or food.
The Included Breakfast was pretty typical for Italian hotels, the serving staff also makes the omelettes. So no coffee or service if someone orders bacon and eggs. Also the food not eaten would be brought out the next day, certainly not something you expect from 5 star hotel. The lunch was absolutely horrible, on arrival I ordered the pizza and 30 minutes later got a gross re-heated frozen pizza, again because they don’t have a dedicated kitchen staff.
Air conditioner was broken when we checked in, took me 5 hours to convince them it wasn’t working, and it wasn’t just our room it was the entire hotel, they didn’t fix it until the next day so that night was really hot in the room, near impossible to sleep.
Room Cleaning was lacking, dirt on floor would remain for days.
Pool towels were completely unacceptable, thread bare and many had holes. The room towels are course and should be replaced.
Most of the staff are very nice, however one of them was quite rude and made my wife very uncomfortable and just pissed me off.
Pool lounge chairs are cheap and the umbrellas are small and basically useless.
