Location is great, inside and outside has many sitting locations. Restaurant and Bar were great. Stairs are steep, and more stairs inside to get to rooms. Pillows are terrible.

The National is a beautiful hotel. Great location, fabulous food and both the front porch and back garden style patio were beautiful! Live music by the fire pits made the experience even more enjoyable. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Can’t wait to stay again!!!!

Nice place to stay in the middle of restaurants and shopping. Evening entertainment/ in house restaurant. Within walking distance from the ferry. No car needed at all.

The National Hotel was nice they had coffee in the morning, very clean hotel, lots going on with music, fire pits and more. The only a couple of things the rooms are small and the price was a bit higher than normal

The hotel staff was very nice. We enjoyed eating our breakfast out on the front porch and people watching. Great location. Our room was disappointing...the dresser drawers were stuck and hard to open and close, the cable TV was only basic channels, and the bathroom was very small and dated...shower water would go cold which was not good.

For the age of the hotel, it was very well maintained and very clean. The staff was all very friendly and accommodating. The hotel itself was very accommodating with storing bags until our checkin time and then the day or departure as well as providing beach towels. There was life music every night in the back patio area. It is loud until 10:00-10:30 but we did not mind it as we heard it from our room and enjoyed it. Great location on the island- amazing food and drinks at the restaurant and bars downstairs. We will be back!

Wish I could have stayed longer…

Charming hotel. Love the history. Staff is extremely nice and welcoming. Enjoyed quietly reading a book by the fire pits. I happened to stay in a room that was above the furnace, I guess? So my “Comfort “ rating would have been higher, but my room was pretty hot - even with the window propped open. Not a huge deal tho. Really loved my first trip to BI and my stay at The National. Will definitely be back. Thanks again to the staff!

Historic hotel in great location

The National is a great place to stay. Super location, very friendly and helpful staff, and very historic. The historic part is something you should understand before booking -- the hotel dates from the late 1800s, so the rooms are not like a modern hotel -- they are not as big or luxurious. But they are fine, especially because on Block Island you don't want to spend lots of time in your room anyway. The other possible thing to expect is some noise. The windows are not soundproof, and there are gatherings in the evening below the rooms.
