“Can I start by thanking Kate on reception who was very helpful when we requested an early check in at 12pm because we were going to a funeral at 2pm. We had travelled 3 hours from the north and she found us an empty room to get changed in which was much appreciated. The room was perfect, clean and warm. The bar was clean and tidy, we only called in for one after the funeral, no problems. The classic breakfast was perfect with plenty to eat and drink and the staff were helpful.”

“Check in and check out was easy, the room was clean and there was free tea and coffee. The hotel communal areas were very clean and the staff were very polite. Perfect for a budget stay. ”

“Good size rooms for family of 4. Good breakfast of full English or kippers. Great food from the pub below for dinner. Excellent all round. Note: If you are sensitive to noise, dont bother as you can hear the pub from downstairs. Otherwise it's good!”

“ The hotel needs a complete refurb. The room allocated to us was of poor quality and standard. There was no wardrobe hanging space for ladies dresses and no drawers for storing other clothes. The plug was missing from the bath and the taps were dripping in the bathroom sink. The positive was that the staff were attentive and helpful and the food (breakfast) was excellent. We would not stay here again.”

“Stayed there a few times over the years . Good location for an over night stop etc. Clean and tidy over all. Friendly staff. It went down a bit a few years ago but seems to have been spruced up recently. Change of ownership? (The tv in the room had seen better days with occasional unresponsive controls. Wi-fi did not load up.)”
