I’m could not fault the hotel. Beautiful rooms, friendly and very helpful staff, perfect location for exploring Bilbao. Old Town just across the bridge and then only a 5-10 minute walk to the main shopping area. Couldn’t be more perfect. Will definitely stay again.

The hotel was exceptional. The breakfast buffet was incomparable to anything but the Paradors where we have stayed in the past. The location is convenient beyond expectations for its proximity to the old city. Thsi hotel is to be recommended unhesitatingly.

Very good location: just cross the bridge to visit the old town. Bus stop in front of the hotel. 20-25 minutes walk from the Guggenheim museum. The only small minus was the pool: it looked much bigger in the pictures.

Fantastic hotel. The thermostat did not function so it was a bit stuffy and the sheets were very scratchy , but the staff was friendly, helpful and kind and the location was perfect

It is a new property and good mantenance. When I reserved there was no advice that the hotel would be for special guests. It only said only adults ! Did not like bathroom appearance without door and crystal wall instead normal walls.

Very convenient location. Room was nice but a few complaints about the design. The shower and bath enclosure is 100% glass. Mostly frosted but one clear panel directly adjacent to bed into shower and sink area so zero privacy from room. Entry to bath has clear frameless glass panel you walk through and seemed unsafe… easy to accidentally walk into glass wall with edge being frameless especially in the dark. Bar in lobby was never open except for breakfast. Alternate bar on roof had very little shade and limited open hours. But plenty of places to walk to and eat/drink nearby.

Lovely quiet room. City view room was not of the city- faced a block wall! Asked Robin ( reception) for alternative - very unhelpful and rude. Didn’t tell us details of spa /hotel etc when we checked in. Told us to come back at 3pm only to discover our bags had not been put inside luggage room - had been left outside the door unattended and also no room change requested! Robin was going off shift at 3! Hotel very nice, good location.

We spent a week in the newly opened Axel Hotel in Bilbao. Our choice turned out to be perfect in every possible way. The staff in every area is outstanding, friendly, smiling, accommodating from the Reception to kitchen/bar staff, housekeeping. It is hard to name all but wanted to thank Luz for her big smile and attentiveness each morning during breakfast. She picked up on my husband’s birthday and the hotel arranged a birthday greeting and a gift that was left in our room. The breakfast is a treat. The room is spacious and well equipped. The bathroom with rain shower is a delight and separate WC is ideal. The king bed was very comfortable. The location is ideal, as located close to public transport, walkable to nearly everything, and on the river Nervion. Behind the hotel is Abando with the museums and across the bridge is Casco Viejo (old town). A wonderful location.

This Axel is relatively new. The rooms are well designed, the shower is very stylish. Ivan and his staff do their best to give a good client experience. Ivan checked me in and was extremely charming. There was an issue with another guest and they put things right promptly. My only little criticism is that the spa is small and nice but none of its facilities were warm enough, the spa, jacuzzi and steam all needed to be a few degrees warmer. Also the Axel in San Sebastián provided bathrobes and slippers at no extra cost and they were in the room, in Bilbao there is a charge but as the changing facility in the spa is small it would be better to also provide the robes and slippers in the rooms. Otherwise the hotel is beautifully appointed and a great location for the Old Town and a fifteen/twenty minute walk to the Guggenheim.

Das Hotel ist, weil es auch neu ist, in einem guten Zustand. Frühstück war ausreichend. Personal ist sehr, sehr nett und hilfsbereit. Auch das kleine Gym hat super neue Geräte. Was anzumerken ist, dass das Hotel sehr hellhörig ist. Und auch wenn eine Zimmertür zugefallen ist, merkt man davon die Vibrationen.
