AMAZING!!! From start to finish this trip was amazing! This house has everything you need! The beds are wonderful including the sheets and comforters. Anything we needed to cook was there and also had firewood. There were 5 bedrooms and each room has its own bathroom. Our family really enjoyed the fire pit. There’s a game lodge that you share with the other houses but it was always available and has last of games. Questions are answered immediately! Staff was wonderful at check in. We will be back soon! Best place to stay in big bear!!!!

Amazing property!! The staff was amazing at introducing the property along with helping us get into our room. Everything was clean and looked stunning at night. There were plenty of shops nearby and are walking distance too! This was our first visit to Big Bear and would book another stay here again and with friends!!

Had such a great experience staying here, 10 out of 10 if I were to rate it. The property itself is well maintained with both rustic charm with a modern touch. . The room was amaculate with all the necessities and attention to details with the decor making you feel at home. Located walking distance to the village is just one of the reasons we enjoyed our stay here. Can't end this post without mentioning the hospitality and friendliness from Patrick, he greeted us on arrival and went above and beyond to accommodate a request. Only regret is we only stayed for one night. looking forward to an extended stay next time we visit Big Bear. BTW, dont. leave without trying the long slide, makes you feel like a kid again.

We had a wonderful stay in the Carriage Suite at the Knickerbocker Mansion and Estates. The suite was spacious, comfortable, and beautifully maintained, with the perfect mix of historic charm and modern comforts. The property itself is peaceful, quiet, and a great place to unwind after a day of exploring Big Bear. A special thank you to Patrick, who was incredibly friendly, welcoming, and helpful throughout our stay. His hospitality made us feel right at home and really added to the overall experience. The location is excellent—close to the Village and Snow Summit, yet secluded enough to feel like a relaxing retreat. We truly enjoyed every part of our stay and would highly recommend the Knickerbocker Mansion to anyone visiting Big Bear. We look forward to coming back!

We had a peaceful, wonderful stay at the Estate House at Knickerbocker Mansion. The property was beautiful and well maintained, and Patrick was responsive, friendly and helpful, especially when we had trouble connecting the TV and needed help with luggage. The bed was comfortable, the wood accents were stunning, and the location was conveniently close to the village. Just note that this house requires climbing stairs, which may be challenging for some guests. We hope return and enjoy their hospitality again in the future.

A Mountain Gem We Stumbled Into We booked one night near Big Bear, expecting nothing. We left plotting our return. The verdict: More private than a hotel, more polished than a typical Airbnb—and run by someone who actually cares. Before arrival, I called with a simple AC question. Patrick, the owner, didn't just answer—he bought a unit and installed it for us. One phone call. That set the tone. He greeted us like family and walked us through the history. The mansion was built in the 1920s by William Knickerbocker, a real Paul Bunyan type who hand-felled the logs himself. You feel that craftsmanship in every beam. Yet nothing feels dated. The kitchen and bathroom are modern and comfortable, so you get 1920s soul without 1920s plumbing. The 2.5-acre grounds are stunning—room to breathe, tucked away, but minutes from the village. That evening, we poured wine by the fire pit under string lights. My shoulders finally dropped. Pure quiet. Who it's for: Couples wanting romance, families needing space, groups chasing something memorable. Would we return? In a heartbeat. Ask Patrick your questions, then book it—just don't blame us when one night isn't enough.

Our stay at Knickerbocker Mansion was absolutely unforgettable. We came to celebrate my mom’s 60th birthday, and it was the perfect setting for such a meaningful occasion. The property felt like a peaceful luxury retreat tucked away in the mountains. The property is stunning — full of historic charm, beautiful modern and industrial details feeling cozy and inviting. It was spotless, comfortable, and ideal for our whole family to gather. We especially loved being able to bring our fur babies along too — finding a place this beautiful that is also genuinely pet-friendly made the experience even more special. We spent time in the lounge area playing billiards, air hockey, and board games, relaxing by multiple fire pits and cozy lounge spaces throughout the grounds, and even enjoyed ping pong while overlooking Big Bear Lake. Some of our favorite memories were BBQing together, soaking in the hot tub under the stars, and watching the sunset from the cabin as the mountains glowed in the evening light. Every moment felt peaceful and memorable. Our host Patrick was absolutely wonderful — welcoming, responsive, and attentive, making everything seamless from start to finish. Knickerbocker Mansion gave us the perfect backdrop to slow down, celebrate, and truly connect as a family. We left feeling refreshed and grateful. Whether you’re looking for a romantic getaway, group retreat, or even to host a wedding, Knicker Mansion exceeds expectations in every way. 12/10 Highly recommend!!

New owners, just opened, working through minor issues, short walk to the Village. I did not see a front desk. Owner greeted me and walked me to my room past two friendly dogs! They bought the property in February and opened recently. Still setting up some landscaping. I have reviewed this stay as a soft-open. Loved my room on the second floor of a standalone four-room cabin. Small, well designed, and well fitted. Every appliance is easy to use. There is a Roku remote control. I am the first person ever to stay in this room! Fun squirrels everywhere. It is built on a hillside with good steps and ramps. The entrance from the road had a steep slope that could be challenging in icy conditions. The owners are working on these issues: 1. The guest portal uses a web portal that did not always work well for me. Could not check in online from my iPhone; my VPN blocked it. I had to use a desktop browser. The portal then gave me the password for the keypad on my door but did not send me my room number. 2. There was not enough bandwidth to stream the Roku free movie that I tried to watch on the TV. 3. Unclear if the historic Mansion (from 1920) was open to guests. It was not clear to me where some attractions were, but the owners will provide signage.

Our stay was amazing that we didn’t want to leave. Harlow and Fredelicious were so welcoming and warm along with the rest of the staff. The rooms were spacious and clean. The deck was full of great amenities and the ambiance was to die for. We will definitely be coming back and have officially dubbed this property as our go to stay in Big Bear. This was a dream getaway.

Online check-in, pet friendly, newly renovated, walk to the Village. We stayed in a very nice one bedroon cabin with equipped kitchen, a/c, private deck, jetted tub, king bed, and plenty of space to safely walk our dogs on the property. Everything was lovely. Spacious, clean, modern-rustic. The owner greeted us personally and took care of everything. By far th best accomodations for the price in Big Bear, will definitely return.

I booked the Estate House for the 4th of July weekend and my family loved it. The house was spacious and everyone had their own room with a bathroom. It was clean and really felt like a home. The property had common areas that provided fun entertainment for my family and the ability to make other friends with our neighbors. The property owners were so nice and helpful. They made sure we had everything we needed and answered questions quickly. This is probably one of the best property I have stayed in Big Bear.

Not only is this historic property a gem, Patrick, owner/operator is as well! He is busy working on this project and recently opened. His love for the property shows with creative and thoughtful details throughout. He happened to see us drive up and gave a welcoming smile and waved us up the hill. He then proceeded to give us a tour of the facilities and our room. Each unit is unique and impeccably furnished with tons of detail, Patrick has converted this early 1900s hillside retreat into a beautiful modernized destination without losing its rustic charm. Its layout blends into the landscape with plenty of activities onsite for the family. Heck he just hosted a wedding there which definitely must have been a hit with plenty of area for guests to enjoy the festivities. This location is walking distance as well from the popular Village area with tons of restaurants and shopping. Another thing, I told Patrick before we even spent the night and, really looked around that my wife and I would be back! See ya soon and continued good luck Patrick! T
