A fine hotel in the heart of Berlin.

A very nice property in an excellent location, the staff were helpful and friendly, and they were happy to bring me a fan to help keep the room cooler as we arrived in Berlin during a brutal Heat Wave, and the air-conditioning wasn't quite enough. Overall, a great value for the price, and a place I will gladly recommend to other visitors to Berlin.

Good but....

The location is excellent, the place is clean, and the bed is comfortable. I especially loved the heated bathroom floor, and the room was warm as well. The automatic blinds outside the window were also convenient to use. However, I was a bit disappointed with the bathroom cleaning. There was an odor coming from the shower curtain in the bathtub, so I ended up washing and drying it myself.

Nice hotel, poor experience

I've stayed at Ku'Damm 101 at least 6 times, to visit family in Berlin. It's a nice place in a convenient location but I probably will no longer stay there for future visits. This time in May I had to shorten my stay by 1 day, due to a death in the family and needing to travel to the funeral. The death occurred after I had booked through Hotels.com. I explained the situation during check-in, showed them the funeral announcement. The front desk said it was between me and Hotels.com. Hotels.com had a different perspective; despite their best efforts to contact Ku'Damm management, they were "unable to obtain a refund approval from the property and we will have to follow their booking policy which states that refunds are not permitted." I'm not sure Ku'Damm even replied. Ku'Damm front desk staff are not decision makers; they are a shield for absentee management/owners who could have made an exception to their policy, given the circumstances and the fact that I've been a regular visitor. They certainly could have issued me a credit good for a future stay. Greed is so disappointing.

A reliable return visit

It’s been 10 years since our last visit to Berlin and this return to our only hotel of choice, Ku’damm 101. It was great to see it is still as reliable as ever. It has great rooms, comfortable beds. The only slight downside on this visit was one pillow had clearly seen better days as the stuffing in the pillow had gone. Also the air conditioning was a bit of a nightmare to get to work. It came on on day two but refused to start just when the temperatures in Berlin hit 30 degrees.

This is my 4th stay and I genuinely like the hotel. However this time as well as last time (3 months ago) the cleaning of the room was skipped one day. This time she came 15.30 to do the cleaning which was the same time as we got back from a day trip. We had to send her away without a clean room. Simply not okay. The reception said they were fully booked and the cleaning had until 16.00 to finish and she could not come back later. If they are so busy hire more staff. Bad excuses and actually a bid rude. It is not a cheap hotel and I expect cleaning to be done no later than 15.00.

Room was clean & functional, except the sink stopper not operating as designed, staff were competent and polite enough, without being as helpful as I’ve experienced in other similar style hotels, the breakfast was exceptional! Wide choice and all fresh and tasty! Overall decent value for money!
