“David and Lorna were lovely. Nice warm welcome and explained what was on offer and asked if there was anything that we needed. They were off on a short family break leaving the In Laws to cover Breakfast etc. Incl checking out and settling the bill 'if this had not already been done with David or Lorna before they had left'. Slight Communication breakdown we felt but overall had a fab stay. Reccommeded by us.”

“Lovely clean large room. Great tv with a superb picture. Plenty of tea / coffee and biscuits welcome tray. We were surprised how quiet our sleep was, the pub below was busy but no sound from it. The decoration of the whole venue is incredible with so much to look at. There is a lot of car spaces but the area is very busy so it’s a bit of a search to find one.”

“Such a nice place to stay and very beautifully antique yet modern. The view of the castle was amazing from our room and it was a nice walk through the quaint town to visit the castle. Breakfast was great and so nice that it was included. Dinner was very good too.”

“The hotel is very well run and the hosts are very helpful. The rooms are a decent size. Although it took a while for the water to warm up in the shower. I acknowledge that this is beyond the owner’s control, but my second floor room overlooked a junction and the traffic was noisy . At about 4am a lorry collected the empty glass bottles. The noise of the crash as the glass shattered was shocking. Avoid a roadside room on a Wednesday morning….if you want undisturbed sleep.”

“We stayed at the Brace of Pheasants for one night and it was really lovely. The room was big, airy and beautifully furnished. The bed was very comfortable and the linen was lovely. We ate dinner in the pub and it was absolutely delicious. I am coeliac and Matt, the owner, was very knowledgeable when helping me to decide what to have. There were several choices for me and I can thoroughly recommend the lamb. My husband was on crutches when we stayed and the staff were very thoughtful and...
