Lovely hotel, we were at a family party nearby. The hotel bar area is excellent and well priced. All of the staff from check in to bar and breakfast servers were excellent. The continental breakfast is a great start to the day, the full English breakfast also looked great. This was our second stay and we will be back.

Stayed here several times now. Staff have always been super friendly and the rooms are good despite being a little dated. The bar is very friendly, food is good and the hotel is conveniently located for the town centre and railway station. Highly recommended.

Old hotel which has had some renovation or upgrade but beds soft and creaky. Basic toiletries and facilities. Biggest issue is that it is unsafe - steps all over with a heavily patterned carpet and poor warning. Wife ended up min A&E after fall with chipped bones in foot and ankle plus black eye and gash on lip.

Heavily stained bed linen. Very noisy activity throughout the night. I informed the receptionist about the bed linen. No compensation was offered. And as I was in a hurry I didn’t continue the conversation.

Lovely hotel

Lovely hotel, lots of character. Staff very friendly and very helpful. Food was delicious. Great location for exploring Belper and surrounding area. Reasonably priced and will definitely stay again.

A very comfortable hotel convenient for the Peak District. Although it's on the main road, it was quiet at night and it was easy to find with plenty of parking. Our room was large and clean and the bed very comfortable. We had an excellent supper in the bar and the continental breakfast was more than enough.

Golf Trip

Stayed at the Lion for the last 5 years as part of our Golf Society and have always found it to be comfortable, friendly and convenient for our needs. Would recommend for anybody visiting the area.
