I had stayed for a week, hotel is just about 400m from the Subway which is very convenient. The supermarket Tesco had closed down while we stayed there. There are other shops which offered good food at reasonable price. Western foods such as KFC, Pizza Hut and MacDonald are present.
Taking subway to city centre is about 30 minutes. Allow more time to airport by Taxi during peak hour. For our case it took about 1hour 10 minutes journey due to traffic congestion. By the way, it took just 30 minutes from airport to hotel when we arrived during the night. The front desk receptionist is able to book a Taxi for you.
Use a foreign base SIM card or with VPN as there is a firewall with the Hotel WIFI,
The hotel room was comfortable, although the mattress was very hard (which I am told some people prefer). We stayed for two weeks and the room was cleaned and restocked daily.
Only downside was a lady who liked to sing at strange times in the night and early morning. Not sure where she was, as the volume and location varied to such an extent that I started to think she was a spirit haunting the hotel.
Check-in was a bit confusing as the staff on duty spoke no english and started dealing with a chinese customer at the same time.
Overall, if I needed to stay in the area again, I would choose this hotel, especially as it is so close to the subway and next door to a Holiland bakery.
Note that the location shown on Google was 2.3 km astray and it is actually across the road from Happy Valley Theme Park, not in the middle of the university as it shows.
It’s a clean hotel, and check in was easy. They don’t speak much English but enough to check ya in and go through the motions. Plenty of restaurants nearby but they don’t accept foreign credit cards so you should have cash on you! Or have wechatpay for China set up. The hotpot restaurant around the corner is super good for that matter.
From hotel to forbidden city it was about 6usd on a didi(Uber) and took around 25 min so not bad.
I would probably stay here again for the price point, it’s across from happy valley amusement park which would be a plus during nice warm weather or if you have kids.
I spent six days in the hotel while I was waiting for my dormroom to be ready. Room in great and kept very clean. The support staff (bellhops, cleaners) were super helpful & friendly. The front desk staff was slightly less so. The service in the dining area was dismal. The staff people were sitting around the dining tables chatting & their attitudes made it clear they were not to be bothered. I actually only ate breakfast there once because of the terrible service & the very sub par food. The hotel location is GREAT! It's located in a shopping center with everything (sit-down restaurants, pharmacy, drug store, bakery, fast food, grocery store, etc.). and it is maybe a minute's walk to the Metro so you can travel to other great locations. The wifi was spotty at best
I took a chance booking this hotel since there were no review when we booked it. It turned out to be a good hotel. It is located across a nice theme park called Happy Valley. Hotel is also 5 minutes from Subway station. The hotel room was in decent condition. Carpet could be cleaner but run down carpet seem to be a common thing is all Asian hotels. Other amenities in the room were working fine. The staff was very helpful even though we couldn't speak any Mandarin. Lot of food places and a super market at a walking distance from this hotel.
