Initial impression- good. Car park all gravel but plenty of parking. Reception - water on offer but it was empty. Were told our booking didn’t include breakfast but included 20% off food and soft drinks. Nice because we had forgotten. No information on where restaurant or bars not a big problem but it is nice to be told. We booked a table for dinner. Was given our room key. We asked if it was possible to walk along the river from the back of the restaurant… no access it is only from the other side. We were given directions but no information such as there is a car park if you want to drive . Room was a little dated but very clean. Dinner - restaurant nice decor and ambiance,polite and professional waitress . I had the flat iron steak was well cooked and tasty. Hubby had the rib eye which wasn’t as tasty as the flat iron. Sat outside after our meal very pleasant. Slept reasonably well - it was warm and we were very pleased to have a fan (which was clean) . We needed to get on the road so didn’t stay for breakfast . But fairly confident it would have been good based on our meals at dinner. If we were in the area , would consider staying again. Clean room, good food, pleasant outside area. BUT some staff need a little extra training in general hospitality and welcome, also some restaurant staff , they seem to lack skills to interact with guests.

The only reason we didn’t score excellent was a half hour wait for cooked breakfast on Tuesday and a mix up about us checking out earlier than our booking, which was confusing. The staff at reception and serving breakfast and dinner were great. Thank you.

“ Bedfords own oasis”

It’s maintained to an excellent standard . Tucked away off a busy road but with ample and excellent car parking facilities . Had a couple of meals during our stay which were excellent value served by friendly staff and set next to the local river.. perfect ! Well worth giving it a try .

The staff are fantastic ,friendly and helpful. The food was excellent and the rooms are well maintained and clean. Our only problem was the pillows are very soft and there was no information if you could get extra pillows.

Good hotel, bad restaurant.

Hotel was good, nice and clean, however the restaurant is overpriced for the type of food they offer. What the hell is ‘oyster mushroom’ dish about? Paid £15 for it for the dish and it wouldn’t even feed a child. So 2 stars for the restaurant and food.

Strange rule over terrace seating

We had a one night stay for a meeting in the region. The hotel is not near to any other Pubs so you are rather captive, it has a nice garden terrace area next to the river, this is very pleasant in warm weather. We were however very disappointed that despite being residents we were not allowed to use this unless eating. A bizarre rule.
