Vacations Close To Bear Gulch Caves

Hotel is very basic. Rooms are small, but thats old San Francisco for you. If you are use to something super classy, you are going to be disappointed. Our room was fine, our bedding had some stains and the bathroom linens were very poor quality, but it did the job. We spent very little time in the room. The location is great. This is literally on the corner of the Dragon Gate. Walking distance to virtually everything. If you plan on doing bus tours, you are right by Union Square where they start/stop. Lots of shopping and dining options around the hotel. Pier 39 and Oracle Park are a 35 min walk from the hotel through beautiful areas and points of interest.

we just love this hotel

Victorian style hotel that has interesting decor but pretty dated. Room (twin) was super clean which was fantastic. There was a variety for breakfast of basic items such as bagels, muffins, yoghurt and some fruit. There was waffle maker which is a novelty for international visitors. Probably best to head to breakfast early as later choice was somewhat more limited and tables weren’t cleaned after previous guests. Staff were super helpful and first person to greet us was so friendly. Location is up a hill but that’s a given in SF. Location worked for us (by having the Muni travel pass) but wasn’t too close to the main areas (we were generally walking a few blocks even to get to transport). I’d be happy to stay again.

This location is amazing for many reasons. The staff, restaurant is fantastic, in 5 minute walking distance to the fisherman’s wharf area. I would highly recommend and we will be going back for our next stay.
