Excellent location for beach and dining and shopping options, friendly helpful staff, nice amenities - especially for beach, reasonable rates, nice sunny room
This was the most amazing stay in a very long time. Found it by pure luck and EVERYTHING WAS SO WONDERFUL and both dogs were treated with the upmost respect. CLEAN, CALM VIBE, RELAXING , GREAT RESTURANT, SO LOCAL TO EVERYTHING. LOVED IT AND CAN/T WAIT TO GO BACK.
My 12yr old daughter, and our little pup has the sweetest time. We cannot thank all the staff enough for making our stay so lovely. The amenities, bikes, beach chairs, beach passes, towels, umbrellas everything was perfect. We will be back soon.
Our room was clean and the bed was very comfortable. We did not dine in but the room looked beautiful. Parking is a problem as there is no "on site" parking. Property sits on a state highway so there is a lot of traffic. Staff was courteous and professional. Free bicycles and beach badges. Overall, a very nice time.

Location and exterior of property is lovely. Definitely not worth the money....its old and not well maintained...could be a beautiful property...doors don't close properly, dead lock broken, rusted hinges on doors, drab....needs paint and a facelift. The "breakfast" was pathetic....have had better at Hampton Inn, Embassy Suites, and many other BnBs....I would not even call the Grenville a BnB. We were in the area for a wedding..everyone we told where we were staying were so impressed....what a disappointment. The porch is very cozy however traffic noise is awful...beautiful flowers...overall just very disappointed
I love the history of the Grenville. The rooms are all unique. The area is beautiful and mostly quiet. My only complaint was the comfort of the pillows. Mine were very flat and using two caused neck pain. Besides that I love the Grenville.
My stay was absolutely perfect. If you are tired of the same old, boring chain hotels, then this is the place to stay. A historic icon that feels more like a bed and breakfast than just another hotel. The owners and staff were professional, courteous, and welcoming. The location is great (just a block from the beach). Local restaurants were also really good.I would definitely stay there again, and highly recommend it.
Beautiful, charming hotel full of history. The wide porch with tables and rockers made me wish we were here in warmer times - must be lovely in the summer. Very friendly staff, welcomed our small dog. Room was cute, bed pushed us together like a hot dog and hard pillows. Other than that, loved it!
We were in town for a short stay for a family event. We made this reservation on short notice. The property was clean, but the Room was very tight. The only place to sit was on the bed. It was a full size king which was a plus but a bit on the soft side. Other rooms may have been bigger.
Very friendly and accommodating folks, took good care of us and our Australian shepherd. Rooms were simple and comfortable, and they gave us an ocean view for no extra charge. Would’ve given bonus points for a microwave. Shower was wonderful!! I travel solo a lot and wouldn’t have hesitated to stay there alone. Lovely place.
I try to avoid the budget motels and such that lack character. this place has style to it. just entering through the large front door into the front lobby is impressive. the restaurant with its fireplaces aglow was inviting. the building is clean and in good condition. I was impressed there is even an elevator to access the upper floors. my room was so pretty. a comfy large bed, chairs, tv, dressers and tables. all very clean. they even provided a little floor standing heater/fan. my only one complaint is that there was no soap or shampoo. perhaps they have it available at the front desk but I didn't ask. parking is also on the street which isn't my favorite but the area is rather nice and well lit.
A very pleasant stay at a charming, quaint hotel! The historic property was just lovely and the proximity to the beach made the stay all the nicer. A great value, too!

Disliked: Property conditions & facilities
The staff seemed indifferent to the hotel guests. They were more interested in the group events going on in their restaurant. As a paying hotel guest, I was told there was no chance I could have dinner at the restaurant-- they were booked with an event. Why wasn't I told that when I made my reservations? Also no one was masked-- seemed indifferent to safe hygiene. No one asked us how our stay was, etc. The rooms were scruffy and old. Won't go back again. I would never recommend this place. It's too bad--- it looks really cute from the outside.
Lovely old hotel with pretty flower bed in front. Our 4th floor room had a small view of the sea. The beach is close, just a block away, an easy walk. Staff were very friendly and helpful with any needs or questions satisfied. Street parking in front of the hotel available, no lack of space even though the hotel was full, so very easy. Having an elevator made room access easy for all guests. Our room was fairly small but very bright and comfortable. We were very happy with it and really enjoyed our stay. We would definitely return!

Liked: Cleanliness, staff & service, amenities
The employees couldn't be any nicer. They were very helpful and cheerful. My only semi-negative comment is that the rooms could have been spruced up a bit.
