Useful location but very close to the A30. Nice hotel/former coaching Inn with friendly welcome. Plenty of parking. Good breakfast. The good size double room had a kettle with coffee bags, fan, hairdryer, iron and ironing board plus large TV. The mattress was a bit too firm for our comfort though.

The restaurant was great. Was a good place to stay for a function. You pay for what you get. Was not expecting a lot for £65.00 pounds. Very old facility so also can not expect a lot. Unfortunately our TV did not work well as we tried to unwind for the day, and the toilet would not flush. I would still give it another go to stay.

The room was spacious although the decor was a little tired and in need of some TLC. Very hot in room and although a fan was provided it wasn't adequate for the size of the room. The room was at the front of the hotel so we had some road noise as the windows were the old sash windows. Some black out curtains would have been useful as there was lots of early morning light filtering through. The bathroom was in need of a makeover. Cracked tiles, short shower curtain and water damaged bath panel didn't give a good impression. All that being said, the staff were very friendly and helpful, the breakfast was very good and the bar area and evening meal was also very good. Reasonable value for money.

The hotel was good value and the room and facilities were in line with expectation given the price paid. A/C would have been great as keeping the windows open all night with the fan running near the window meant we did not get a great nights sleep due to the close proximity to the road, however that would not be a problem were the weather not so hot. All staff were helpful and cheery. The only real disappointment was breakfast (which we paid for separatly). The cooked to order part of the breakfast was fine but the buffet/continental breakfast area where you get drinks from was poor. There was very little selection other than a few boxed cereals, some sorry looking pastries and over-ripe bananas, no fruit salad etc. The coffee was terrible, after putting a small jug of milk in the cup it barely changed colour and was so bitter it was not drinkable. I expected it to be filter coffee as it usually is when served from the urn with pump on, however I realised when I saw the urn being refilled with heaps of cheap instant why it was so strong and tasted awful. A couple of minor adjustments and this could have been a really good breakfast offering to go with a good value room.
