Had a fantastic stay at The Slate. Staff are excellent and very handy having the restaurant and bar downstairs after a long day travelling. Note that rooms are on first floor up a staircase, no lift. Well appointed and cosy room with modern bathroom amenities. Would definitely stay again.

We stayed here last year and we were impressed with this hotel. Our recent stay, did not disappoint- friendly staff, comfortable, clean room and excellent meal with great service. This hotel is a perfect stop over if you have an early ferry the next day, as it is only 25 minutes from the port

Great stay! Excellent location!

Everything was great! Nothing bad to point out. If I had to nit pick, I'd say the "Rock" keyrings are a bit bulky to carry in your trousers. Apart from that nothing else, the Staff was really friendly!

A homely hotel with great service

A beautiful homely hotel. I’ve stayed 3 or 4 times while away on business and I’ll continue to stay here. The ambiance and service is really homely and personable. Great food in the bar and the breakfasts too. Really good value

Really friendly pub with rooms with excellent service throughout. Room was decent - especially for just the one night stay. Only slight negative is that there is a trainline that runs immediately behind the pub so there is noise from that from early morning until late evening which may bother some.

Hotel looks good but experience not so good

Arrived just too late to order food so ordered on just eat. When it was delivered, the owner (Male) happened to be near the entrance when i went down stairs to collect. He immediately stated that i wasnt allowed to eat in my room and that i would have to eat downstairs with everyone else which i definitely didnt want to do. I ended up pleading with him to let me eat in my room stating that id been on the road from 8am that morning and it was now 8.30 at night and i was shattered and far from feeling sociable. I even said id eat on the floor so not to get anything on the bed sheets. He eventually gave in and asked what room i was in, presumably so he could check it personally in the morning. He insinuated if there were any stains on the bed sheets or anywhere else, i would be charged but by this time i just agreed as all i wanted to do was get to my room and eat my long awaited dinner. To add to this, i had to phone down to ask to put the heating on as radiators were stone cold, ridiculous as we were in the middle of winter! To be fair, the lady was helpful and polite, especially compared to her male colleague who'd to be honest, made me feel very uncomfortable. There were Christmas parties going on down stairs, understandable due to time of year but no sound proofing in rooms, meant it was quite noisy and far from relaxing. When the bar closed i expected it to quieten down but then tables were screeched and staff were lol. Definitely wouldn't recommend ill not stay again šŸ˜”

Modern, contemporary and clean room with a lovely walk in shower. The bar and restaurant were the same. Breakfast was fresh and delicious and we had dinner in the restaurant the first night too, also delicious . The best bit of the stay were the staff, so friendly with nothing ring too much trouble for them to make sure our stay was perfect. Great location too for local attractions and other eateries. We’ll definitely be back. Thank you for making our stay so enjoyable.

The hotel was ideal for a short stay and all the staff were very helpful, nice and accommodating. The food from the restaurant was really nice, the Sunday roast especially. The breakfast wasn't great value for money, it was nice, not for that cost. My only issue was with the lack of soundproofing which meant that I could hear everything from the bar downstairs and the music from the kitchen.

The Slate is a lovely place, clearly a lot of thought and care has gone into the decor. Everything was spotless and well looked after. I stayed in a single room that matched the photos perfectly and was surprisingly spacious (always a welcome surprise). The shower water pressure was excellent too, much better than most places I’ve stayed! The location is fantastic — quiet, safe, and ideally placed for exploring Snowdonia, Bangor, and Anglesey. I even went to Barmouth and whilst it was a bit of a longer trek, it was still easy to get to. It is a bustling venue, so you have to expect some noise, I didn’t find it too much at all though. The nearby Trainline was also not troublesome. My only downsides were that smoke from pub-goers outside the front drifted into my room which was a bit overwhelming at times. Parking could also be tricky during the evenings/weekend - some sort of ā€˜reserved spaces for hotel guests’ system would make a big difference as it was a little frustrating getting back in the evenings and not being able to find a spot until someone decided to leave. Overall, very impressed with the venue and I was very happy and comfortable here ā˜ŗļø

The Slate Hotel offers a pleasant stay in a convenient location. The property is exceptionally clean, and the staff are both friendly and attentive, which made our visit very welcoming. We stayed in a family room (Room 8 – Pont y Pandy) on the first floor, which featured two comfortable double beds. One point to note is that the railway line runs directly behind the hotel, with trains passing approximately every half hour in the evening. While this did not affect us significantly, lighter sleepers may wish to be aware. The hotel is ideally situated for exploring the area, being just 20 minutes from Llanberis and the Snowdon Mountain Railway, and within easy reach of Bangor and the main train stations. Overall, we were very satisfied with our stay and would not hesitate to recommend The Slate Hotel.
