We arrived to find the room we had booked on the first floor had been trashed the night before and the only available room was on the second floor . The problem for us was my husband is recovering from hospital so the extra stairs didn't help. That said the staff were amazing and did all they could to help us and although it was a smaller room it was lovely. We had several meals in the hotel which were very good and would recommend The White Lion Royal.

It was very good value and in a very beautiful area. The maintenance of the building was outstanding. No lift and, at 80, I found that a bit of a struggle. But will return - and breakfast was good value.

We weren’t really there that long as we couldn’t check in until 21:30 (our fault, not the hotel!) as we had been at a wedding all day so it was more or less into the room and straight to sleep! The room itself looked a bit dated- carpet & furniture could do with updating but the bathroom you would be proud to have in your own home. Well decorated and an amazing shower! If I’m being really picky then the only other things were a full bin in the room from the previous guests plus a half eaten cookie on the refreshment tray, but other than that it was ok- it served as a base after a long day. Staff were great, young girl offered to move her car in order for us to get ours on the hotel car park which we didn’t ask for, which was nice.

Excellent large clean immaculate room with plenty of tea coffee biscuits etc on clean tray. Clean kettle and cups. Excellent large immaculate bathroom with towels and hand and shower liquid soaps. Ideal central location in the middle of Bala High Street. Not enough parking on site. Small car park (at the rear) already full of people drinking at the pub, so had to park on street instead. Not enough staff available so had to wait a little to check in. Room was decent. Plenty of space with a nice modern bathroom suite and shower. Relatively quiet on the third floor, but quite a journey up three levels on an old staircase. Coffee/tea maker limited to a kettle and a handful of packs of instant coffee and tea bags. Only 4 small pots of UHT milk though. Breakfast is an additional charge of £10 per person.
