Pretty old and needs a good refurbishing, the shower head and associated attachment to the shower wall was hanging on byva threadcwas not attached properly. I managed ok but it was a real challenge to stop it fallingboff tgexwall.

I loved the restaurant and brewery, and the location was great. Staff were very friendly and courteous. The rooms themselves are very basic and plain, but it served its purpose and we liked the price. I’d definitely stay there again for an affordable night’s rest.

It was a lovely old pub. Our room was on the third floor up six flights of steps with a heavy suitcase we are in our 60’s the staff didn’t offer to help. Food and beer was excellent

Loved how it right near queen st. Easy to walk to alot of things and if not, uber was the way to go. Wasn't super clean but wasn't super dirty either

If you like a charming, historical, old fashion little boutique hotel with a glorious past and a very good pub and restaurant, this is the right place! Not to mention the amazing and super convenient location! The rooms, however, are very small and definitely old fashioned: but this is part of the charm. Not recommended to people who have issues climbing the stairs (there is no lift).

I emailed support twice asking about check in and never heard back. We were not aware that the whole hotel would be shutdown with check in being at 2pm. I emailed asking before our stay if we could check in before 2, if we knew this was not possible we would have stayed elsewhere. We ended up missing our booked tours on Waiheke Island which was a shame.

Staff were polite and nice but the room was hot, stuffy (no aircon) filthy (snot on the wall next to the bed, dirty floor) and there is building works next door (extremely noisy and they started at 6:15 in the morning!)

No soap, the lamps did not work, the fridge was covered in mould, the carpet looked like it had not been vacuumed for a long time, and when someone uses the bathroom on the floor above, the smell wofts down the air vent. I almost threw up a few times staying here! But at least the staff were friendly and the location was perfect.

only thing positive was location, central to everything we wanted to do. The hallway smelt very musty, nearly knocked you over when you opened the door. the window did not have a lock, towel rail in bathroom was not there. The remote for Tv did not work, the mattress was stained .

Old and dirty

While the staff were nice and very helpful , they were battling a building that is old, worn out, and dirty. I have a video of me opening my door with a credit card slipped into the gaping space in the door jamb. Not using the key! The air conditioner was always dripping on the bed and floor and soaked everything which is why it smelled like a swamp. The coffee pot has mold all inside it. Yuck. Cockroaches in bathroom. No lift up 3 flights. Location is fine but this is an old and running brewery pub downstairs. Smells like it. Keep the air conditioner off, open the windows and spray for bugs if you stay here. No paid parking either. Price was great though but we still left early. Not for normal travelers.

We booked this hotel specifically because it was a heritage builiding / there was not elevator but we were told our room was on the 2nd floor - it was on the 4th / manager refused to call a shuttle for us - he said he'd call a taxi but not a shuttle ($140 vs $40). We walked down the street to IBIS and they gladly called a shuttle and made a reservation / comfy bed - but besides that, a hard no for us
