Good location. Clean facility. Horrible aesthetic. The lighting in the room was bright and overwhelming. The room was tiny and claustrophobic and the bathroom felt like an airplane bathroom. By the time I left I was overcome with existential dread. I stayed here to decompress from a 13 hour flight but I felt like I never left the airplane.

We stayed at ibis Budget Auckland Central. The room was small and cramped for two, with limited storage and just okay bathroom. Beds felt small, and noise from nearby bars made nights restless due to poor soundproofing. On the plus side, staff were friendly and the location is excellent—right in the CBD, close to attractions, restaurants, and shops. At around NZ180 a night, we got what we paid for.

The room was very compact so it would be helpful to have additional wall hooks and beds that could accommodate suitcases underneath. Lighting was limited to one wall mounted light. An additional bedside lamp would provide extra light. The laundry room was convenient and reasonably priced but there should be a warning that the dryers are hot even on a permanent press setting. The central location near Queen Street and the harbor is excellent and convenient. Television channels were very limited and should be increased. The kitchenette was much appreciated.
