The hotel is 5 minutes to its namesake, Van Gogh. Tram is around the corner. Dead quiet unless the school across the pedestrian only road is on recess in the afternoon. Super area. No parking nearby that I am aware of. Plenty of good food nearby.

Stinky room

Location is great. But there was a mysterious smell of garbage permeating our room that never was resolved. And hideous stained carpeting in room and hallway. Front desk staff were mostly helpful.

Great location close to Amsterdam central & to all the major museums. The tram and bus are just a 5-minute walk away from the hotel. Area was very safe and it's just opposite the Van Gogh Museum. Staff was friendly and always ready to help. The toilet has been newly renovated but the room looked a little tired. All in all, it was a good stay.

Visit most of the touristic places by foot

Regarding the positive aspects of the hotel: It is very well located and you can visit the main tourist attractions on foot. The room is very spacious, air-conditioned and has a mini-fridge. Alexandra (receptionist) was very welcoming and friendly. Regarding the negative aspects: It is very close to preschools, which makes the place a little noisier at certain times of the day, during the week. The breakfast is very limited, with few options of fresh and homemade food.

A nice surprise!

The Hotel Van Gogh was such a nice surprise! A simple place, but everything is super well cared for by a friendly and efficient team. The breakfast was generous and had plenty of variety. But the real star is the location—just steps away from Museumplein, tram and bus stops, and the beautiful canals. A great experience all around.
