I had a great stay at this hotel. The property was very clean, and the staff was friendly and helpful throughout my visit. It was also convenient to have a bar on-site, which made it easy to relax in the evenings. The location was excellent — close to plenty of shops and restaurants, all within walking distance. Overall, a very comfortable and convenient stay, and I would definitely recommend it.

This is one of Amsterdam’s iconic, old school hotels. Ideally located within walking distance of all of the major museums, the tram stop in front makes it easy to get to the central train station and explore further afield, too. The staff is friendly and the bar and cafe are relaxing, with great food and creative cocktails. We loved it! Try to get a balcony room overlooking the canal.

Had a (small) room but with a balcony on the front. Unfortunately our neighbors smoked (cigs and weed) so at those times we had to close the balcony doors. I wanted to stay at the hotel because of its history, name and art deco decor. For $500 a night it was okay, nothing extraordinary or special. Wish the room would have been a little more spacious for the price paid. The staff was friendly and helpful. It did surprise me that the hotel did not offer the eco friendly option of not changing the towels. For just a two night stay we would have preferred to reuse our towels.
