We really enjoyed our stay! Excellent location, delicious breakfast, and friendly staff. Be aware that there is no elevator and the stairs are very steep to the upstairs rooms.

Fantastic hotel. Very well located. Very clean and breakfast was great. The only thing is that there are no elevators and the stairs are pretty steep. I would recommend 100% if you have no mobility issues.

Lovely place to stay. Right in the heart of the Jordaan neighborhood with lots of restaurants and shops, but away from the crowds of main tourist areas. Staff was very helpful and free daily breakfast was tasty (Lekker!). My room was on the 3rd floor with canal view and spacious; I didn't have any trouble but do be aware it is up a steep set of stairs and may be a challenge if you have mobility issues. I will be back.

Great central location. Not that close to a metro, but great for walking to all the sites. Many nearby restaurants and museums and attractions. Very equidistant to the sites. On a lovely smaller canal.

The hotel is under renovations in October so it has scaffolding on the entire outside of the building. This was a little disappointing since we had a room with a view of the canal. Also it is an old building so stairs with steep incline not good for people with any immobility. Hotel itself is great, rooms are a good size, and staff is great and helpful. 4-stsrs because of the renos but no noise in the building in the evenings.

We enjoyed everything about the Wiechmann Hotel! The decor suited its old world charm and comfort. The staff were 100% helpful with a billing issue - and with all else, including ordering taxi. And the breakfast offerings were excellent! Even my medical need for gluten free options were met. There were a few drawbacks, which could be a challenge for some: all rooms, including a "1st floor" booking, were up very tall, shallow, and steep staircases... tough to drag suitcases up & down. And some rooms were tiny, like ours, so the need for space necessitated piling unneeded chairs atop one another in an unused corner. But it was very clean, well stocked, and comfortable nonetheless! Finally, the hotel is ideally located at the corner of two canals, in a very scenic old neighborhood within walking distance of everything - the art museums in one direction, the Anne Frank House & shopping in another. We got around daily with great ease. We would happily return to the Wiechmann on any future visit to Amsterdam!

Lovely position by the canal in a great area of Amsterdam. Unfortunately scaffolding everywhere when we were there limiting our view. Breakfast ok but coffee machine kept breaking and very limited staff input to help with anything, the occasional staff member was not friendly or welcoming at all. Rooms basic but nice enough. Obviously stairs very steep as expected and we had little luggage, but very limited staffing so no help carrying bags up for more frail visitors with big bags. Good to have free hot drinks available but frustrating no tap water jugs or availability in reception area. All cold drinks charged when bottles/jug of tap water could be in the fridge to provide a free cold option. Reception staff helpful enough when asked but not overly forthcoming. Best thing about it was the location, near to lots of lovely areas and things to do.

This place is a great value for being strategically located in one of the best parts of Amsterdam. Feels like a family run B&B almost. Rooms are small and bare bones. Don’t expect too much. Breakfasts are typical European, nothing fancy but good! The only gripe I have is the room smelled like cleaner. In this day and age you don’t need to use abrasively smelling cleaners anymore.

The location of the property and breakfast is the key seller. Getting to the rooms with big luggage is not possible and likely injure yourself. The stairs are like a challenge course, so if you are not comfortable with narrow steep stairs then think twice. The he staff was very reserved and could not help with information on getting around. He hey helped book a cab with one price but the can driver charged double at the drop off point at airport. Double check with can driver on the price before getting on .

I have stayed at this hotel many times, and I already have a reservation to stay again in a few months. I just returned a few days ago from Amsterdam (it is late October, 2026), and the Weichmann is in scaffolding outside as well as in the courtyard. The charming breakfast room is being converted into a restaurant which will be open to the public. The scaffolding is for infrastructure work. Right now, the hotel consists of 3 side by side houses which only connect on the ground floor. When work is finished, they will connect on every floor. The logical only reason to do this is planning for an elevator that every guest can use. That's the good news. I did not experience noise problems. Work is done during the day and doesn't start too early. After the very hot summer Amsterdam just experienced, they report that there are no plans now for air conditioning; that may follow later. So plan accordingly. The staff is friendly and helpful, the breakfast buffet is great, the rooms are clean, and the street floor is pure old world charm. Lots of stairs, but if that's an issue with luggage, they will help carry your stuff to your room. Just a 5 minute walk to Leidsestraat and the trams to Centraal Station. Hotel is in a great location, near lots of restaurants, walking distance to Rijksmuseum, Van Gogh Museum, Concertgebouw, and the Netherlands Opera house and the charming "Nine Streets." Recommended.

Reaaly need to inform people that there is no elevator and the stairs are horrible. Need someone to help carry bags up. Breakfast was adequite. Staff was very helpfull Room was quaint and functionalble but a little on the smaller side. Toiletries were almost non existant Location was as good as you could get.
