Unfortunately, my stay at ibis Amboise was disappointing. The room had an unpleasant smell and was very dark, which made it feel uncomfortable. The toilet also had a serious flushing issue. The flush did not work properly and required pushing the button extremely hard, and even then it sometimes would not flush at all. I raised this with management, but the only response I received was to “push hard.” This was not an acceptable solution to a basic maintenance problem. I also found the hotel description and name misleading regarding the location. Despite being called ibis Amboise, the hotel is a considerable distance from the old town/centre of Amboise. It does not feel like an Amboise-centre location at all, and geographically it appears to be outside Amboise itself—we even passed a road sign showing that we had left Amboise. Overall, the combination of the unpleasant room, faulty toilet, unhelpful response from management, and misleading impression of the location made this a disappointing stay. I would strongly recommend checking the exact location before booking.
