All the staff we met were great, cheerfull helpfull and polite. The room was clean and comfortable and what one expects in a very old building. Only 4 stars for 2 reasons the shower only worked on the large head and the food choices were very limited both in the restaurant and at breakfast. No salads and limited vegetables in restaurant.No fruit or cereal at breakfast. The hotel is remote which is part of it's appeal for us so going out in the evening is not an option,I would have struggled with finding a third evening meal.

Room was spotless and very spacious. Bathroom modern and shower worked great. Plenty of walking routes from the hotel and a warm welcoming log fire to return to after a good days walking. We had a friendly welcome at the hotel from the staff. Located in the Langdales with beautiful scenery. We had dinner on 2 evenings and the room had everything you could want plus a bit of space- lovely!
