This hotel is perfectly located to visit Alnwich Castle, gardens, Lilidorei park and the town. It is clean. The room we had is beautifully decorated, spacious and clean. Breakfast was excellent, staff friendly and helpful. We definitely recommend and hope to come back soon.

Lovely place, not the usual Greene Kings .our room was entirely unique piece and we loved it. Room was super clean and comfy bed. Staff were just lovely whelp make this a great place to stay. We didn’t eat but the food we saw looked good.

Room was great with a comfortable bed. No air-conditioning so hot in the night. A fan was provided. Great shower. Breakfast buffet was basic and had to ask for restock as staff not on top of it. Full English breakfast looked OK. This is a pub as well with a predictable menu if you have visited any in the chain. OK for some but not for us. Would stay again just for the room and location. Parking on street or in nearby car park.

A thoroughly enjoyable stay. We were in room 3 which had a challenging set of stairs, no lift due to nature of the historic building. Very atmospheric place bang in the middle of the town great access on foot to all amenities. A 10 minute stroll to the Castle and the excellent car park. Breakfast was first class value. The room was spacious excellent shower and roll top bath. Bar facilities very good small outside beer garden. Plenty of Sky Ports TV screens in the bar, Saturday night there is a disco in the bar. Not for us but it did not bother us. All round brilliant place.

Had a three night stay. Quirky Harry Potter themed room. The staff were very friendly and efficient. Had to report to the manager that the shower wasn’t working and he immediately went up to the room and simply turned it on. How embarrassing …. and me an engineer too. Ate in the hotel first night. Food was very good and comparatively inexpensive. Nicely cooked breakfasts as well. Good choice of beer. First time in Alnwick. Would go again. Plenty of places to eat and drink. Loved Harry’s bar which was just a few yards from the hotel.

Spacious, comfortable room and a big bathroom. Well equipped, even a big armchair (Clayport room). WiFi strong. Great food and imaginative menu in the pub below. Friendly staff. All round excelent.

The property is certainly quirky, and not quite what we expected, but not in a bad way, just different. Food was excellent, and the portions are ginormous. staff are all lovely, and wonderful to talk to. Absolutely love the local accent, could listen for hours. No complaints at all.

Location is great with lots of free parking options nearby including EV chargers. The room and bathroom were spacious, clean and warm. On the downside was the fact that our room was just above the pub and on Saturday night was very loud until midnight and we couldn’t sleep. So make sure to ask for a room on higher floor. Regarding the breakfast one day we had the eggs Benedict which were not good as the hollandaise sauce was too watery, scrambled and bland. The 2nd day we had the English breakfast which was very good and I would definitely recommend it. The breakfast continental buffet could have more fruit options (only apple and oranges were available) and should be refilled regularly which wasn’t the case.

Staff here were lovely, but the room and facilities were in bad condition- our shower leaked through to the pub downstairs, there was no grout on the bathroom floor tiles. The staff were really friendly and helpful and moved us into another room. This room was fine but things felt unfinished or of poor quality here too- the shower door here didn’t fully close to seal etc. There were also things missing would expect to see in this price range such as hooks in the bathroom, biscuits with tea and coffees etc. overall a nice stay, great location, and some nice features but not the quality you would expect with the price paid

Lovely and comfortable

Stayed here for 1 night to break up a journey. We didnt arrive until late and the staff were very busy with the dinner service but were kind and helpful. Showed us to our room. Breakfast in the morning was delicious, you had to preorder the night before but lots of choice. Staff very friendly and helpful. We stayed in the bondgate room, very nicely decorated and comfortable. Only downside I would say that it was very hot and there was no blanket available as an alternative to a full winter quilt.

Our room was gorgeous- but the staff in every area were less than hospitable to the point my husband and I came to the conclusion that their attitudes must come from the top (management). It’s tricky to get to, the stairs and steep to the accommodations (expected for such an old structure), the breakfast was good- service wasn’t. It’s a balanced review I believe- would I stay here again? Probably.
