Matutinao Beach Resort is a beautiful and convenient place to stay if you’re visiting Kawasan Falls. The location is perfect—just a short walk to the falls—and the staff are genuinely friendly and always ready to help. The place is quiet, clean, and peaceful, which made our stay really relaxing.
Dining options are a bit limited though. There were no fish dishes available during our stay, and the kitchen closes at 7 PM, which feels a little early for tourists who might come back late from activities.
But overall, we still had a wonderful stay. The service, cleanliness, and amazing staff truly made the experience worth it. Would definitely recommend it for anyone planning to explore Kawasan Falls! 🌿🏝️
We arrived late to the property and the staff were so helpful to get us checked in as quickly as possible and hassle free. The room was clean and well maintained and close to a 7/11. Seaside views and beach access. Close to Canyoneering activities and 10 minute walk to Kawasan falls. Would stay again!
The staff was brilliant, I recommend staying here for kawasan falls canyoneering and book directly in this place, we had an amazing private tour for only 1100 pesos each and lasted abour 3-4h with food and water also. Much better than a group as we could take amazing photos and they took us early to avoid the crowds.
The hotel room was clean and there is air con (bit noisy). The tv only has 1 channel but tbh we were too tired to be watching it.
Also the wi fi is not free as advertised, there is a machine 5 pesos gets you 1h of wi fi but doesnt reach the rooms (this didn't bother me im on holidays not to be on the phone).
The beach outside of the property is not really a swimming beach, more for the view. Malboal is about 30min away by bike or bus (just flag a yellow bus is like 32 pesos per person soooo cheap) and there are plenty of beaches there.
The rooms are nice and clean. There are just so many to improve. We didnt expect that they dont offer free wifi which is very misleading. You have to go their dining area to connect to their wifi and to pay for it. Its so inconvenient for people who want to rest in their room especially for foreigners who only rely on wifi since we dont have any philippine sim to buy data. We also dont like the water pressure in their bathroom. It was so weak and the water barely comes out from it. Maybe its better to have a pail and a dipper to have another option. A quick shower will not do because their water takes forever. If you need anything, you have to walk to the lobby/dining since they dont have phone in the room. Their tv/cable was not working at first because it was expired and they didnt check it which they should have since they know that people are checking in on that day. No trash can in the room only in the bathroom.
We really had a pleasant stay in Matutinao Beach and Cottages. Staff were very accommodating, rooms are clean, nice front beach view. They assisted us with everything. The food was great. We love the vegetable lumpia so much. You can also book your canyoneering experience with them. They made everything convenient for us. Location was perfect, as it is situated near the exit of Kawasan falls (Although, you will begin your spelunking/canyoneering experience in Badian) We were assigned to kuya Elmer for the spelunking. He's helpful and patient especially with those who are afraid of heights. He will even jump with you if you're too scared. We will come back here again.
Matutinao Beach is probably the best accommodation to enjoy the renowned canyoneering at Cebu. The property is literally 5 min walking distance to Kawasan falls. The oceanfront rooms are recently remodeled and very clean. The hotel has a restaurant on-site for authentic filipino food.
By the far the best perk about this property is the incredible canyoneering experience offered for hotel guests. You get a discounted rate for staying at this property. I highly recommend Matutinao Beach, and their amazing canyoneering tour guide James.
Incredible! I booked super late and the girl woke up at stupid o'clock to let me in - with a smile. I'm so thankful.
In the morning I saw such beautiful settings by the sea and so close to the falls literally at the beginning of it.
The location couldn't be better. The room was great. I'm going to miss the memory foam pillows!
The food is OK.
I booked canyonerring with them. Glad I did. Everything you need is in-house no extra travelling!
I had Elmer as my canyonerring guide. He was amazing. Me and the old girl joining had the of our lives in such natural beauty with Elmer taking photos for us and of us in a multitude of spots. He knew exactly what shots we would want for our photo album! Really great.
I'm not sure what the cannoneering partner name is but the briefing needs to be better. I didn't know how to jump and the briefing didn't tell me much. Ending up hurting myself on the final jump but over all this resort it's fantastic. Glad I booked here, I will recommend!

Hotel was fine.
Office/restaurant and most shops closes at 8pm. Foreigners that are adjusting to time, make sure you the get wifi password and drinking water. We were stranded at 9pm with no water.
Thankfully a worker was gracious enough to pick us some after not being able to access the hotel's restaurant.
Awesome location....trail to Kawasan falls and canyoneering is right across the street.....food was great and staff was great. Very clean...beds a little hard...would stay there again.
Hôtel en face des kawasan fallls. La nourriture y est pas top et rien a faire. Le mieux est de loger à Moalboal et de venir de la bas à kawasan falls. Mais je ne conseille pas
