Central position lots of restaurants and pubs to chose from. The hotel has a lovely entrance and room was beautifully furnished and kitchen was very handy. Did miss not having someone on site but check in was okay. Gardens need attention, needs a toaster rather then trying to cook toast in the grill in the oven it took ages.

A nice place to stay. Didn't live the self check in thing, I always prefer a hotel to have some live staff around. But the staff were very attentive and good at communicating on the app, so all was fine. Nice place for an easy stay.

The hotel was spotlessly clean and the bed was comfortable. The shower was excellent. The location was unbeatable. There were great options from food and drink nearby. I would happily stay there again, even if 10am is rather early for a check out (especially on the day that the clocks go forward!).

I recently stayed at the Old Abbey House Hotel in Abingdon and had a generally pleasant experience. The hotel has been beautifully renovated, with a modern yet characterful feel, and the location is excellent for exploring the town. Unfortunately, there were a few issues that affected our stay. Our room overlooked the park, which meant there was quite a lot of noise from the street, especially at night. The room was also extremely hot. Although a fan was provided, it didn’t make much difference, so we had to keep the windows open, which made the outside noise even more noticeable. There was also a constant engine or mechanical noise throughout the night. The room felt a little dusty and stuffy, and there were spider webs in the bathroom that should have been cleaned before our arrival. The shower was another disappointment, as it was difficult to get a comfortable water temperature and the water pressure was inconsistent. Overall, the hotel has a lot of potential thanks to its lovely renovation and great location, but a few improvements to cleanliness, room comfort, and maintenance would make a significant difference to the guest experience.

Our second stay, the hotel is so nice. The only slight problem was that the hotel door wouldnt lock from the inside - just a small thing for peace of mind. But staff were incredibly accommodating to allow 2 hour early check-in

Really beautiful old hotel. We stayed in room 22. Second floor. There is no lift here. Not much of a view just roof but it kept the hot sun out. Comfy bed, lovely bathroom. Not much in the way of milk etc but there is a cupboard in the foyer for extras. No housekeeping in the 3 nights but again you can e.mail for more towels. Fan was pathetic, luckily having read reviews I brought my own. TV , iPod dock and WiFi. No on site staff but actually we were able to speak to two people. Self check in. Car park is first come first served and the huge planter in the drive looks lovely but takes up too much room. A stones throw is the town centre and bars etc and a short stroll to the river. Loved it would definitely stay here again.
