Lovely area, friendly staff. Rooms a fair size but a little tired, could do with some TLC. Breakfast ok, came fairly quickly but again have had better.

Very nice place to stay. Good friendly staff. Had no issues. Plenty of towels. Plenty of coffee and tea in room. Room very clean and a good size. Will stay here again no problems

On first impressions the place was good but after some time we started to see some things that weren’t nice. First the shower didn’t work properly so the water temperature was extremely hot. As we were staying only for 2 nights we didn’t feel the need to complain but it we were to have stayed longer we would of complained and let them know. The room had many spider webs and a spider on the bed. The bathroom didn’t have a good clean and the tap was dirty. We felt as if someone had left the room and they only changed the bed before we came in. On a good note the bed was very comfortable and the room was a good size. The breakfast experience wasn’t the best, we saw that there was only one person serving and cooking the breakfast so I get why the service was slow. Once we received the breakfast one was half cooked and cold and the other was like warm. The toast felt like it had been made way in advance as it was stale and cold. The women on the front desk that greeted us was very lovely and welcoming which was nice. The place is really nice, and a really good price. There are just a few things that would need to be better. We didn’t have a bad time but if we were to have been there for longer I would of looked for somewhere else.

Potential to be “Great”

My wife and I recently stayed at AbingPlough House. It’s a lovely period cottage with character and external cottage style thatched bedrooms forming a pretty terrace along side the main building. It’s run by new staff now for the last few months. I noticed that it was in need of a little TLC however, I spoke to the new manageress who I must say does everything from booking to cleaning, repairs and breakfast the best she could and was always at hand, she is very attentive to everything she does and is a credit to the business. After speaking with her I realised she’s not getting the support that she should from the business owner who is the letdown here. It would be supportive if the owner helped with supplying basic materials like paint inside and out just to freshen up also attend to the loose ends that I noticed. AbingPlough House is a good quiet relaxing place to stay for travellers or visitors to the area, it’s also set in a pretty countryside location. Like I said it’s a good place but, with a little support from the owner it will be a “GREAT PLACE” with a great manageress who has ambition to achieve.

The oddest check in experience I’ve ever had. Having messaged the property when I booked letting them know my arrival time I arrived to find an empty bar and no sign of anyone (other than a key on the desk with note from someone else saying they had left because the smell of smoke was so bad). When someone arrived a few minute after I rang the ball he preceeded to facetime someone (whilst repeatedly turning the camera to me in some sort of odd visual inspection) and through very broken English we managed to get me to a room about 25 minutes later. The room was comfy enough in fairness, but not clean. Hairs in the shower, dustballs on the floor and a dirty towel shoved under the fridge because it leaked. Wi-fi had a “one minute on / one minute off policy” which wasn’t overly helpful either. Safe to say I won’t be returning.

Awful Experience - DO NOT STAY HERE Had a message asking what time we would be arriving - no reply from property Upon arrival we were not made to feel very welcome, we felt like we were an inconvenience. We were Asked to fill in what we wanted for breakfast by ticking boxes, which was fine. Then were told no other food options available - Thank goodness Room very old and quaint. Lots of equipment filled the room and little to no space to move around in. Electrical cables trailing over the floor and a tripping hazard. Slept - not very well - mattress lumpy Breakfast - well ….. toast that never really saw the toaster and warm not hot. A single Sausage that never really saw the grill/frying pan and looked undercooked - obviously we didn’t eat it. Hash browns not cooked properly and cool. Bathroom ok but the Shower which my husband had was hot for him. He only had a very quick and short shower, approx 4 minutes spent there. When I went for my shower it was freezing cold. Towels so threadbare and rough and small and barely covered your body. We booked for two nights as we were seeing friends, but it was so bad we left after the first night and didn’t stay the second night. Nobody to complain to on returning our key. Definitely will not be returning. If you want a lovely place to stay and a warm welcome - BOOK ELSEWHERE

Staff were polite. Rooms could use a lick of paint and freshening up. Breakfast on first morning was cold. Had a family sat on next table and who like us had to pre order breakfast at check in had bacon put on their plate. They do not eat bacon as part of their religion so the man cooking breakfast just used his fingers and took the bacon off the plate.

Worse place we’ve ever stayed. We booked this B&B hoping for a cosy retreat, but unfortunately, our experience was anything but restful. The first room we were given had faulty wiring in the bathroom and stairs that led from the bedroom to the bathroom. The lights in the bathroom flickered ominously and kept going out. The stairway light didn’t work at all. There was also an incessant clicking sound that would have made sleeping difficult for anyone. Health and safety was a real concern. After raising the issue, we were moved to another room, which sadly proved no better. The new room was damp, with a musty smell that lingered. The carpet was poorly fitted, the mattress was extremely old and uncomfortable, and there were other examples of poor maintenance and general neglect throughout. Cleanliness was questionable, and the furniture felt very ad hoc and mismatched. We appreciate the staff’s attempt to relocate us, but the overall condition of the property was unacceptable. We overheard another client complain that he had no heat in his room. We decided to err on the side of caution and go else where for breakfast. This B&B needs serious maintenance and a rethink of what constitutes a comfortable guest experience.

Very quirky 600 year old thatched building. We had a large room for 3 of us and a lovely big bathroom with a huge shower cubicle and a bath. The bed was very comfortanle and we slept well even though the building is on a busy road. If you only like 5* hotels, this is not for you! There was ample parking.

Unfortunately i found the room uncomfortable, the bed was hard and the pillows rubbish. Shower was tepid dispite running the water.Breakfast was cold and concealed. There is a mountain of old mattresses round the back waiting for widelife to move in, also reminants of old sinks . Rubbish everywhere. I did not feel welcome on arriving.

We booked this for 2 nights because it was close to Oxford and had laundry - this place is well... very rustic - low ceilings steep narrow stairs to a room with super tippy floors - not at all what we thought we have booked - Expedia advertised laundry in room - there wasn't - large beds, small beds ! Tippy floors set off my vertigo so bad - breakfast was fine - they are trying but it's not at all what we needed - we only stayed one night Expedia refused to reimburse us even tho the place didn't have what we booked and needed - I don't recommend it even tho the wee girl working there was super sweet and trying very hard - rustic/tacky/uncomfortable

The place is very dated and not particularly clean, although this could be forgiven were it not for the terrible customer service. We are still waiting for the refund for cancelled nights or any acknowledgement that it will be processed weeks after the fact. Expedia have been useless too, all round disaster of a trip. I would not recommend this hotel and I will not be using Expedia again.

NEVER EVER STAY AT THIS HOTEL.. THE MOST AWFUL.. UNKEPT.. DIRTY .. STAFF RUDE AND LAUGHED US WHEN WE SAID WE WERE NOT HAPPY.. SHOUTED AT US WHEN WE ORDERED BREAKFAST AND HAD TO LEAVE FOR MY DADS FUNERAL.. BECAUSE INSTEAD OF IT TAKING 20 minutes to half an hour.. we waited an hour and 10 minutes.. we had my grand children with us to.. Highly recommend not to stay here!

Abingplough inn was in a good location. Breakfast was brilliant. Staff very friendly & helpful. Bed & bathroom clean. The buildings could do with a little TLC. Definitely value for money. Would certainly recommend it.
