“The home was very nice. However they had a house keeper who lived under the house, who was up all night drilling and sanding in the garage. We were there for 4 nights and he was up late every night. The listing says you have the entire house, but you actually share it with multiple people. The rented portion is closed off to the other parts of the house. Also there were stink bugs everywhere! The Toutle River runs for 17 miles in two separate forks, converging into one and finally spilling into the Cowlitz River just a few miles north of Castle Rock. At this point on the boundary trail, you can see that ash still pervades its banks, though the inevitable spread of flora and fauna will soon build up enough topsoil to revitalize the area. I had never seen a clearer, and more definitive view of the tributary, even in photographs. It is astounding how much of the mountain's topography, geology and habitat are on clear display on this trail. And on a beautiful day, you can't really find a more beautiful hike in the southwestern portion of the state.
